Seiko wins King Fahd Stadium steel deal

Seiko appointed to implement the steel structure of the King Fahd Stadium in Riyadh Image: Saudi Projects on LinkedIn

Chinese specialist steel company Seiko International has been signed to implement the steel structure for the King Fahd Stadium project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Projects said in a LinkedIn post that according to Seiko Steel Group’s official WeChat, Seiko International officially signed a contract for the Saudi King Fahd Stadium steel structure project.

The King Fahd Sports City, also nicknamed ‘The Tent’, or ‘Pearl of Stadiums’, is a multipurpose stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The stadium, which seated 58,398 spectators, is currently closed for reconstruction that will expand it to approximately 70,200 seats by 2026.

The stadium will host related events as one of the eight major venues for the 2027 Saudi Asian Cup and one of the 15 major venues for the 2034 FIFA World Cup™.

The 2027 AFC Asian Cup will be the 19th edition of the AFC Asian Cup, the quadrennial international men’s football championship of Asia organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

The tournament involves 24 national teams after the expansion in 2019. It will be held in Saudi Arabia from January 7th-February 5th, 2027.

King Fahd Stadium is the second Saudi Asia Cup venue hosted by Seiko Steel Group after the Aramco Stadium.

Aramco Stadium will be a multipurpose stadium located in the North of Khobar, Saudi Arabia. One of the 2034 FIFA World Cup™ stadiums, the venue will have a capacity of 47,000.
