A large group of vandals caused extensive damage recently to the old home ground of the Dutch professional football club SC Cambuur – the Cambuur Stadium in Leeuwarden (Netherlands) – breaking the windows, tearing the seats in the stands and destroying a fieldside canopy of the facility.

And the surprising part is that they got off scot-free with their act of destruction.

‘NL TIMES’ stated that the incident of vandalism took place on the day when the SC Cambuur played their inaugural match recently at their new abode – the Kooi Stadium in Leeuwarden, Netherlands.

The SC Cambuur, also known as the Cambuur Leeuwarden or simply Cambuur, is a Dutch professional football club from the City of Leeuwarden and was formed on June 19th, 1964. They currently play in the Eerste Divisie, the second tier of Dutch football.

The 15,000-capacity Kooi Stadium is a football stadium in Leeuwarden, Netherlands. It is home to the Eerste Divisie club SC Cambuur.

The Cambuur Stadium is a football stadium in the East side of the City of Leeuwarden, Netherlands. It is the former residence of the SC Cambuur. The stadium holds 10,500 fans and opened on September 12th, 1936. The Kooi Stadium is the new residence of the club.

‘NL TIMES’ further stated that according to the authorities concerned dozens of men entered the Cambuur Stadium and went on a vandalism spree engaging in deliberate and senseless destruction to the venue property. Fireworks were also set off inside the ground.

The cops were called in and they managed to bring the situation under control and the vandals were allowed to go scot-free without any arrests being made or fines slapped for their act of hooliganism.

The above incident occurred as the SC Cambuur celebrated the opening of their new stadium. The event included performances by artistes such as Mental Theo (Dutch record producer) and a fireworks show. Cambuur played a friendly match against the top-flight club Feyenoord Rotterdam and the latter won the match 4-1.
