Should the LaLiga team FC Barcelona (Spain) retain the Spanish Super Cup for a third consecutive time the venue this time will be the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul (Türkiye) with the first competitive tournament of the 2026-2027 seasons set to take place from February 2nd-7th, 2027.

Change of Venue

‘fcbarcelona.com’ stated that the tournament had been played in Saudi Arabia in recent years but the country was ruled out this year as the Asian Cup is being played there at the same time. The tournament will return there the following season.

The FC Barcelona, and colloquially known as Barça, is a professional football club based in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, that competes in LaLiga, the top flight of Spanish football.

The Spotify Camp Nou is a stadium in Barcelona (Spain) and the home of the LaLiga club FC Barcelona since its opening in 1957. It is currently undergoing renovation and with a planned increased seating capacity of 105,000 it will retain its position as the largest stadium in terms of seating capacity in Spain and Europe as well as the second largest association football stadium while becoming the fifth-largest overall stadium in the world.

The Spanish Super Cup is a Super Cup tournament in Spanish football. Founded in 1982 as a two-team competition the current version has been contested since 2020 by four teams: The Winners and Runners-Up of the Copa del Rey (an annual knockout football competition in Spanish football) and the LaLiga (the highest level of the Spanish football league system).

The 2027 AFC Asian Cup will be the 19th edition of the AFC Asian Cup, the quadrennial international Men’s football championship of Asia organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The tournament will involve 24 national teams after the expansion in 2019. It will be held in Saudi Arabia from January 7th-February 5th, 2027.

The 77,563-seat Atatürk Olympic Stadium is a stadium in Istanbul, Türkiye. Located in the Western District of Başakşehir it is the largest-capacity stadium in the country and the largest permanent track and field stadium outside Africa and Asia by capacity.

Clash of the Titans

‘fcbarcelona.com’ further stated that the above development means the FC Barcelona fans are set to travel to the Turkish city Istanbul where the first trophy of the season will be contested by the ‘Blaugrana’ and the Copa del Rey Runners-Up Atlético Madrid, the Copa del Rey Winners Real Sociedad and the LaLiga Runners-Up Real Madrid CF.

Kick-off Times

The kick-off times and dates are yet to be confirmed. However, the routes to the Final are known with Barça set to take on Atlético Madrid and Real Sociedad set to take on Real Madrid CF in the Semifinals.

Third Time Lucky?

The FC Barcelona are the current holders of the Spanish Super Cup and twice in a row as it stands. Hansi Flick’s (Manager of Barça) side won the 2025 and 2026 editions after facing Athletic Bilbao in the Semifinal and Real Madrid CF in the Final on both occasions. As such, a third win in a row is the aim, this time in Türkiye.
