Enrique Riquelme, a candidate for the LaLiga team Real Madrid CF Presidential elections on June 7th, presented his poll planks at an event held in a Madrid (Spain) hall which includes the construction of a venue with a capacity to hold 15,000 people and will stage basketball games and concerts. A hotel will also come up. His poll plank also promises to bring a 360-degree change to the Valdebebas Sports City.

‘FOX DEPORTES’ stated that Riquelme also announced 50 percent reduction in membership fees for the 100,000 Members of the Real Madrid until the top-flight wins the Champions League again.

The Real Madrid CF is a Spanish professional association football club based in Madrid (Spain). The club competes in LaLiga, the top tier of Spanish football.

The Bernabéu Stadium is a retractable roof football stadium in Madrid, Spain. With a seating capacity of 83,186 following its extensive renovation completed in late 2024 the stadium has the second-largest seating capacity for a football stadium in Spain, behind the 1,05,000 Spotify Camp Nou in Barcelona. It has been the home stadium of the Real Madrid CF since its completion in 1947.

The Valdebebas Sports City (officially known as the Ciudad Real Madrid) is the primary training ground and Academy headquarters for the Real Madrid football club. Spanning 120 hectares in the Valdebebas district of Madrid (Spain) it is one of the largest sports complexes built by a professional sports organization.

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Champions League, commonly known as the Champions League, is an annual club association football competition organized by the UEFA that is contested by the top-division European clubs.

Nyon (Switzerland)-based the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) is the governing body of football in Europe uniting 55 national associations and overseeing the promotion, regulation and development of the sport across the continent.

Great Initiative

Remarked Riquelme, “I have taken a huge initiative in favor of the Members in Real Madrid’s history. It’s an initiative that, for the first time, looks into the larger interests of the club’s Owners and does not make a pitch for privatizing or selling the club. The community is also being kept in mind.”

He added, “It is very important to talk about the Members’ interests. We can talk about the sporting factor later.”

‘FOX DEPORTES’ further stated that the Presidential candidate underscored that his priority was the club Members and making the Bernabéu Stadium “a place for all the Real Madrid fans worldwide”.

He revealed plans of making the Valdebebas Sports City “the Members’ city” and providing it with a new pavilion.

Riquelme also revealed plans of building a plaza for 25,000 people where the team’s matches could be followed on a giant screen, a 22,000 square meter ‘club house’, an outdoor aquatic center, an auditorium to hold events for 1,500 attendees, 11 soccer fields, 41 padel and tennis courts, six basketball courts, a children’s area, and a premium hotel where the Members would be able to stay at a reduced price.

He also promised to increase the capacity of the 5,797-seat Alfredo Di Stéfano Stadium in Madrid, Spain, where the Real Madrid Castilla (football reserve team of Real Madrid) and the Real Madrid CF’s women’s team (Real Madrid Femenino) play, from 6,000 to 20,000.

Enrique Riquelme concluded by stating, “If I am elected the President Real Madrid will once again belong to its Members.”
