Italian Serie A club Venezia FC has signed the concession agreement for management of its new stadium with the City of Venice.

The stadium is being built in Mestre, in the Tessera area of the city as part of the Bosco dello Sport project.

Venezia FC said the 40-year concession will see the club putting up €125 million for equipment and improvements to complete the venue as well as planned and unplanned maintenance, and the concession fee.

The stadium, which will open during the second half of the 2027/2028 season, will host up to 18,500 spectators for football matches, as well as concerts, festivals and other major cultural and entertainment events.

It will form part of a much wider Bosco dello Sport project which also includes a new 10,000-seat indoor arena for basketball, volleyball and live events.

Venezia FC is set to move away from its iconic 12,048-capacity Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo home to the new venue in 2027.

Francesca Bodie, President of Venezia FC, said, “Today is a historic day for Venezia FC and our community. Bosco dello Sport will be our new home: an innovative, inclusive and sustainable Stadium built to the highest international standards, capable of unleashing the full energy and passion of the Club.

“This will be a venue open all year round, aiming to become a benchmark in Italy for bringing together sport, culture and entertainment. We would like to thank the City of Venice for the ongoing dialogue and fruitful collaboration that made this milestone possible.”

With 18,500 seats, premium hospitality, skyboxes and year-round event spaces, Bosco dello Sport is conceived as a new hub for sport and entertainment for the Metropolitan city of Venice.

The stadium is being designed with flexibility in mind, and a variety of events will be added to the entertainment schedule year-round – including Venezia FC’s regular matches, international soccer friendlies, rugby matches, concerts and festivals, community gatherings and other large-scale events.

Simone Venturini, Mayor of Venice, said: “Today is a historic day for our entire city, even for those who aren’t football fans. After decades of debate and talk, the dream of a modern, functional stadium is finally something we can see and touch.

“This facility will be the home of Venezia FC, but also a driver of opportunity for the whole area. I would also like to thank the orange-black-and-green club for its trust and for the commitment it is making with this agreement: choosing to invest in such a long-term project shows real belief in the future of this city.

“I am certain that the Bosco dello Sport ecosystem, with its matches, concerts and major events, will give whole generations of Venetians experiences, emotions and memories for decades to come.”
