OVG Hospitality culinary fare Celta Vigo Balaídos Stadium

The LaLiga team Celta Vigo and the Oak View Group (OVG), a leading US company in the development and management of sports, cultural and entertainment venues worldwide, have reached a strategic agreement to drive the transformation of the food and hospitality offering at the former’s home ground – the Balaídos Stadium in Vigo, Spain.

‘CELTA’ stated that the above partnership marks the arrival of OVG Hospitality in Spain with the Celta Vigo becoming its first project in the country. The agreement will enable the development of a new food and beverage (F&B) offering at the stadium designed to enhance the experience of the fans, the businesses and the visitors in line with the modernization process currently underway at the Balaídos Stadium.

The Celta Vigo or just Celta is a Spanish professional football club based in Vigo, Galicia (Spain) that competes in the LaLiga, the top tier of Spanish football.

The Balaídos Stadium, also known as the Estadio Abanca Balaídos for sponsorship reasons, is an all-seater stadium located in Vigo, Spain. It is owned by the Vigo’s City Council and is the home of the LaLiga club Celta Vigo. The stadium opened in 1928 and currently accommodates 24,870 spectators.

The Oak View Group, LLC (OVG) is an American professional sport, venue management, hospitality, sponsorships, booking, and commercial real estate company based in Denver.
 

Landmark Projects

‘CELTA’ further stated that with extensive international experience the OVG Hospitality manages food and beverage (F&B) services at some of the world’s leading sports and entertainment venues thus combining operational excellence, local identity, sustainability, and innovation. Its experience includes the landmark projects such as the 65,000-capacity Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas (US), the Premier League team Manchester City F.C.’s home pitch – the 61,038-capacity Etihad Stadium in Manchester, England (UK), the Championship team Southampton F.C.’s home field – the 32,384-capacity St Mary’s Stadium in Southampton, England, and the 23,500-capacity Co-op Live venue in Manchester, England.
 

Modern Stadium

The above partnership will enable Celta Vigo to move forward with its goal of turning the Balaídos Stadium into an increasingly open, modern stadium equipped to deliver distinctive experiences on matchdays as well as during the other events hosted at the venue.

Meanwhile, Amy Latimer, President of Operations at OVG, notes that “a world-class venue like the Balaídos Stadium can be transformative for the Celta Vigo and the region as a whole. A high-quality food and beverage (F&B) offering will help drive tourism, create new opportunities for the local businesses and generate a positive and sustainable economic impact in the long term.”

Maintained Marián Mouriño, Celta Vigo President, also expressed her optimism, “Partnering with a company like the OVG means a great deal to us and helps us meet the infrastructure demands of modern football. We are working to ensure that our facilities are seen as an asset that enables us to continue growing as a club and provides us with long-term stability.”
 

Beyond Football

With this agreement, Celta continues to bring on board internationally recognised partners to further raise the standard of its infrastructure and services thus consolidating the Balaídos Stadium as a meeting place that goes beyond football and contributes to the development of the city of Vigo. The agreement also contemplates expanding the partnership with the OVG across the Celta360 ecosystem which the club is currently developing as the Galician Sports Factory, Celta’s strategic flagship project to transform its existing sports city into a global center for innovation, health, education, and high-performance sport.

The Celta360 ecosystem is a major strategic and infrastructure project by the Spanish football club Celta Vigo. Backed by an investment of over €120 million it redefines the club’s training complex and operations into an integrated global hub spanning more than 242,000 square meters.
