The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Executive Committee met recently and decided on the appointment of the hosts for the UEFA European Under-21 Championship Final tournament in 2027.

Albania and Serbia will host 2027 Under-21 EURO.

‘UEFA.com’ stated that following a submission of a sole joint bid dossier the Albanian and Serbian Football Associations were appointed as hosts for the 2027 edition of the tournament.

Nyon (Switzerland)-based the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) is one of six continental bodies of governance in association football. It governs football, futsal and beach football in Europe and the transcontinental countries of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Kazakhstan as well as the West Asian countries of Cyprus, Armenia and Israel. The UEFA consists of 55 national association members. Since 2022, due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the FIFA and the UEFA suspended all Russian national teams and clubs from any FIFA and UEFA competitions.

The UEFA European Under-21 Championship, the UEFA Under-21 Championship, or simply the EURO Under-21, is a biennial football competition contested by the European Men’s Under-21 national teams of the UEFA member associations.

The 2027 UEFA European Under-21 Championship (also known as UEFA Under-21 EURO 2027) will be the 26th edition of the UEFA European Under-21 Championship (29th edition if the Under-23 era is also included), the biennial international youth football championship organized by the UEFA for the Men’s Under-21 national teams of Europe.

‘UEFA.com’ further stated that the 16-team tournament is scheduled to be played at four stadiums in Albania (Tirana (capital of Albania), Shkodër (City in Albania), Elbasan (City in Albania), and Rrogozhinë [town in Albania]) and four stadiums in Serbia (Novi Sad, Loznica, Leskovac and Zaječar – all Cities in Serbia). The opening match will take place in Serbia and the final will be held in Albania.

Both hosts will be assured of a finals place with qualifying for the remaining 14 slots running across 2026 and 2027.

This will be the first time the Under-21 EURO Finals will be played in Albania or Serbia. Albania will host their first UEFA national-team final tournament this year when they stage the UEFA European Under-17 Championship in May while Tirana hosted the first-ever UEFA Conference League Final in 2022. Serbia hosted the Under-17 tournament in 2011 while UEFA Futsal EURO 2016 was played in Belgrade (capital of Serbia).

The UEFA European Under-17 Championship, or simply the EURO Under-17, is an annual football competition contested by the European Men’s Under-17 national teams of the UEFA member associations.

The UEFA Conference League, previously known as the UEFA Europa Conference League, both abbreviated as UECL, is an annual football competition organized since 2021 by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) for the eligible European football clubs.

The UEFA European Futsal Championship is the main futsal competition of the men’s national futsal teams governed by the UEFA.
