Algeria venue keys in MC Alger’s hands

The President of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, decided recently to assign the responsibility of operating and managing the under-construction Douéra Stadium (Algiers) to Mouloudia d’Alger (MCA) which recently completed 100 years of existence.

The ‘APS’ quoted President Tebboune as stating in a presser, “I have decided to put the management of the Douéra Stadium in the hands of the MCA so that the club does not remain without an official stadium of its own. The ownership of the stadium will remain with the State. However, the MCA will run the show and what better gift could they have asked for in their centenary year.”

The Douéra Sportpark Stadium is a 40,000-capacity stadium presently under construction in Douéra, Algeria, a suburb of Algiers. It is due to open in 2021 and the price tag of the facility stands at circa 11.969 billion dinar. It will be a completely covered facility with no athletics track. It will be the official stadium for MC Alger.

The Mouloudia Club d’Alger, referred to as MC Alger or MCA for short, is an Algerian football club based in Algiers.

The club was founded in 1921 and its colors are red, green and white. Their present home stadium, the Stade 5 Juillet 1962, has a capacity of 65,000 spectators.

The President noted that MCA had a very special place in the hearts of the Algerians.

Wishing the club all success in its centenary year (founded on August 7th, 1921), the President informed that it is the first Algerian Muslim club and derives its name from the birth of the Prophet. He wished all success to the team.

The rate of progress of the stadium’s work has reached around 55 percent, according to the 2020 activity report presented last February by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
