Cologne’s Zochleiter Holger Kirsch made the announcement in this regard recently. The stadium is all set to wear a carnival look.

The ‘Koelner Express’ stated that the Shrove Monday celebrations will take place with or without spectators. The plan is to have spectators but everything depends on the Omicron situation in Germany as presently the Omicron wave is breaking new weekly cases record in the country.

The Rose Monday parade in Cologne is the largest event of its kind in Germany, and draws up to a million visitors from all over the world to the City every year.

Stated Kirsch, “I and my team are presently working on plans on how to hold the festival taking into consideration the Omicron situation in Germany. It is a very fluid situation and we are still not sure whether the pandemic situation will improve in February and if we can go ahead with the festival.”

Horses will also be allowed. Two to four horses will be allowed with each group. The Cologne Carnival Festival Committee is also considering allowing marching bands and dance groups.

Each group will have to mention in the form to be filled up for participating in the event as to how many people are participating. Participating in the Carnival will be free of cost.
