Prior to Texas Rangers move to Globe Life Field, Delaware North Sport service has initialed a long-term contract with the Major League Baseball (MLB) team.

The sports hospitality experts will offer their services in areas of concessions, suites, catering and premium areas, as well as retail management when the 40,000-seat ballpark opens its doors in 2020. The hospitality specialist first joined hands with the MLB team in 1994, when the team’s current Globe Life Park Stadium opened.

Delaware North has come up with novel concession concepts like The Boomstick and Dilly Dog, as well as the All You can Eat Porch, in the past 25 years. Globe Life Park has also been consistently ranked as one of MLB’s most vegan-friendly ballparks by PETA.

The sports hospitality company is also involved in philanthropic activities like working with a range of local non-profit organisations to work in the ballpark’s concession stands as a fundraising opportunity. For more than 25 years, it has raised nearly $30m (£20.1m/€22.7m) and has donated the amount to area community groups.

Jerry Jacobs Jr., Co-Chief Executive of Delaware North, shared, “Delaware North has a lot of fun thinking of new and unexpected ways to delight Rangers fans, especially with our food creations that have transformed ballpark dining across the industry. We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Ray (Davis, Rangers Co-Chairman and Managing Partner) and his leadership team at the state-of-the-art Globe Life Field, which will set a new precedent in baseball and beyond for live-event entertainment.”

Though the menus are not yet set for the spiffy stadium, but the Rangers confirmed that delectable mix is on offer – the new upper deck at the stadium will include a Throwing Smoke barbecue restaurant that will be smoked on site. There will also be a brick-oven pizza restaurant called High Cheese, ice cream store The Frozen One, adult beverage store Barrel Up and hot-dog specialist Abner Doubledogs.

Globe Life Field work was initiated in September 2017 and is being built as a public-private partnership mode between the Rangers and the City of Arlington.

Delaware North Sport service looks after food, beverage and retail operations in more than 50 facilities around the world. Its clientele include Boston’s TD Garden, St Louis’ Busch Stadium and London’s Wembley Stadium. It currently offers its hospitality services at 11 MLB ballparks.
