Expo2020 Dubai needs Senior Manager – Operational Planning

Expo2020 Dubai has recently announced a vacancy for position of Senior Manager – Operational Planning for its Event Operations department. The full-time position will be based in Dubai, the host city for the much anticipated global exposition.

The official Expo2020 website describes the opportunity and responsibilities for the job as: To lead operational planning within the Event Operations functional area ensuring alignment with internal stakeholders and the wider organisation. This role will focus on leading Event Operations through the planning phase ensuring functional area plans and operations are aligned to the Expo 2020 Site, Zones and Venues.

Outlining the definition of the department, the job advert stated: The role of the Event Operations department is to manage the seamless operations across the event delivery of Expo 2020. Event Operations includes the following service areas: Catering, Cleaning and Waste Management, Logistics, Transport Traffic and Parking, Site Management, Accreditation, Guest Services and Venue Operations.

The main responsibilities of this role will include:

Organise and lead the operational planning approach for the Venue Operations function and wider Event Operations department ensuring that internal stakeholders are aligned and consistent in their Site, Zonal and Venue planning;
Work with the Overlay and Real Estate and Delivery teams to influence operational planning of the Expo 2020 designs;
Support where necessary the requirements of key external partners e.g. Dubai Police and commercial partners;
Input relevant sections to the Participant Guidelines in conjunction with other Functional Areas, and ensure a collaborative approach;
Ensure seamless transition from the planning period to event delivery;
Transition from an operational planning role into a key operational event time delivery role;
Support the Head of Venue Operations with in-event planning over the 6month event duration;

The skills that are being looked for in the candidate are:

7+ years in a role specializing in Venue Operations;
A Bachelors Degree;
Large scale events background helpful;
Strong experience in working with senior multi agency partners and stakeholders with an ability to engage, influence and build a network;
Programme / project manager experience supporting large complex projects;
Knowledge across all key event management operations;
