FIFA – the highest governing body of association football – announced the launch of the Fan Experience Panel on June 2nd, 2021, a group of 25 football fans from around the world that will be continuously consulted to help enhance the football experience on and off the pitch leading up to major tournaments and events.

‘FIFA’ stated that the group, which emerged from the FIFA Fan Movement, will be providing valuable input into the development and refinement cycle of various technology-led innovations. It will work in partnership with FIFA’s Football Technology & Innovation team and in line with The Vision 2020-2023, which details FIFA’s commitment to harnessing technology to improve the game and the experience of football fans.

Representing six continents and 17 countries, the members of the Fan Experience Panel will participate in a series of workshops, conduct beta tests for new technologies and innovations and attend virtual and in-person events to provide first-hand feedback and input to FIFA.

Said Jean-François Pathy, FIFA’s Director of Marketing, “The ‘Fan Movement by FIFA’ is a core pillar of our marketing strategy, based on a true value exchange between FIFA and the community. It is paramount for the future of football that we foster a meaningful and collaborative dialog with our audience and the Fan Experience Panel is a striking example of what we are aiming to achieve. All together, we are driving the game forward. All together, #WeLiveFootball.”

Said Johannes Holzmüller, FIFA’s Director of Football Technology & Innovation, “As we look to enhance the football experience on and off the pitch, we want to provide fans with a meaningful voice to help shape the game they love.”

‘FIFA’ further stated that the 25 members of the Fan Experience Panel were selected from the FIFA Fan Movement, a global community that provides ongoing feedback and insights to help inform future FIFA programs. In addition to having a shared passion for football and recognizing the vital role that technology can play in improving the game, the Fan Experience Panel members come from a variety of backgrounds and industries, enabling them to bring diverse experiences, views and ideas to FIFA.

The Fan Experience Panel marks the first time that FIFA’s Football Technology & Innovation team has created an official panel of fans, whose invaluable feedback will be considered alongside the perspectives of other key stakeholders.
