Firefighters were called to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (UK) on the morning of September 1st, but there were no reported injuries as 300 people were evacuated.

The ‘Sky Sports’ stated that the London Fire Brigade said in a statement that the scene was quickly brought under control once people were evacuated from the nine-story building. There were no reports of any injuries sustained in the event.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is the home of the Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur in North London, replacing the club’s previous stadium, White Hart Lane. With a seating capacity of 62,850, it is the third-largest football stadium in England and the largest club stadium in London.

A statement sent out in this regard stated, “Firefighters were called to a fire at a football stadium on High Road in Tottenham this morning (September 1st). An air compressor was damaged by the fire. The Brigade was called at 10:01 am and the fire was under control by 10:59 am.”

The ‘Sky Sports’ further stated that two fire engines from the Tottenham Fire Station were at the scene. It is understood by the time the fire brigade arrived the small kitchen fire had been put out by an electrician with one fire extinguisher.

The ‘Spurs’ released the following statement regarding the incident: “Following a number of inaccurate and sensationalist reports, we can confirm that the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is operational as normal after a small fire, caused by an air compressor, broke out in one of the kitchens on the morning of September 1st. The fire was contained to a very small area and quickly put out with a fire extinguisher by the first person on the scene. The building was briefly evacuated as per standard safety procedures following the triggering of the fire alarm system, while a London Fire Brigade crew attended the stadium and carried out a safety inspection before departing the scene.”
