Plans for a splendid sports arena inside the precincts of the Palasport of Genoa, an indoor arena in Genoa, Italy, a symbolic building for the Genoa City and gateway to the new Waterfront di Levante, was presented in a presser held recently.

‘Genoa Smart’ stated that the design of the arena project has been lent by the RPBW Renzo Piano Building Workshop. The sports arena has been conceived as an open and flexible space which will be customized as per the nature of the games to be held in the planned facility. The price tag of the planned stadium stands at €23m (£19m/$25m). It will be able to accommodate up to 5,000 fans with 80 percent of seating areas distributed across eight circular stands.

‘Genoa Smart’ further stated that the planned arena will be able to host training programs for the local federations as well as stage concerts and trade fairs. In the case of staging national and international sporting events, the arena will be able to pack in circa 5,000 spectators.

The above design firm and the Ligurian National Olympic Committee have worked their fingers to the bone to carve out a design for the planned sports venue which will also be able to host regional and national games (futsal, skating and handball) and international games (basketball, volleyball, tennis, martial arts, gymnastics, roller hockey [a variation of ice hockey played on roller skates], badminton, sports dance [competitive form of ballroom dancing], and fencing).

The versatility of the interior spaces allows us to host different sporting events. To provide a more rich experience to the spectators the above sports arena has been planned inside the Palasport and attention has been given to every minute details. From cushy seats to advanced acoustic technology the planned sports facility will boast all. I thank all the stakeholders who are working tirelessly to make the above venue project a reality.”
