The Ligue 1 team Paris Saint-Germain FC (France) recently announced the appointment of the international sports-business executive Richard Heaselgrave as its new Chief Revenue Officer (CRO).

‘PSG.FR’ stated that Heaselgrave brings two decades of senior commercial experience to Paris Saint-Germain. He was previously the Chief Revenue and Fan Engagement Officer at World Rugby where he led the commercial programs for the Men’s and Women’s Rugby World Cups.

The Paris Saint-Germain Football Club, commonly referred to as the Paris Saint-Germain or simply PSG, is a professional football club based in Paris, France. They compete in Ligue 1, the top division of French football.

The 48,229-capacity Parc des Princes is an all-seater football stadium in Paris, France. It is located in the South-West of the French capital and serves as the home pitch of the Paris Saint-Germain.

Dublin (Ireland)-based the World Rugby is the governing body for the sport of rugby union. The World Rugby organizes the Rugby World Cup every four years, the sport’s most recognized and most profitable competition.

‘PSG.FR’ further stated that prior to his stint at the World Rugby Heaselgrave served as the Chief Revenue and Experience Officer at Tennis Australia (the governing body for tennis in Australia) overseeing the Australian Open. He was also the Chief Commercial Officer at the English Football League (EFL – a professional football league organization in England and Wales [UK] encompassing the second, third and fourth tiers of English football) where he negotiated new title sponsorships and ran Football league Interactive, the digital business of the 72 Football League Clubs, he also served as the Vice-President for International Development at the National Basketball Association (NBA – a professional basketball league in North America composed of 30 teams) and also as the Sponsorship, Sales and Event Promotion Executive at the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA – one of six continental bodies of governance in association football).

Based in the club’s Paris headquarters Heaselgrave will oversee all commercial strategy and operations for the Paris Saint-Germain including global and regional sponsorship and partnerships, hospitality and ticketing, merchandising, media rights, digital products, and fan-engagement initiatives.

Under the custodianship of the Qatar Sports Investments the Paris Saint-Germain has transformed its business model and revenue profile over the past decade. Last season the club achieved the third-highest revenues in club football globally with a total €806 million which directly drives its sporting ambitions. The Paris Saint-Germain has also become a major economic asset to France contributing €3 billion to public finances since 2011 and generating considerable value across France including €243 million in economic value for the Paris region in 2023-2024.
