There are many suitors waiting in queue to build the future home of the Ligue 1 team Paris Saint-Germain Football Club (PSG) (France).

‘BFMRMCSPORT’ stated that located to the South of Paris (France) the City of Ris-Orangis is the latest to evince keen interest vis-à-vis constructing the top-flight’s new home and has even proposed completion of work by 2030. The City is going above and beyond to convince the PSG to build their new facility in Ris-Orangis.

Earlier, the Aulnay-sous-Bois (commune in France in the Seine-Saint-Denis Department in the Île-de-France Region), Gonesse (commune in France) and the town of Châteaudun (commune in France) had all said the French Ligue 1 club can build its new stadium on their land.

The Paris Saint-Germain Football Club, commonly referred to as Paris Saint-Germain or simply PSG, is a professional football club based in Paris, France. They compete in Ligue 1, the top division of French football.

The Parc des Princes is an all-seater football stadium in Paris, France. The stadium with a seating capacity of 47,929 spectators has been the home of the football club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) since 1846.

The PSG are struggling to find an ideal area to build their future stadium. The top-notch club have confirmed through their President Nasser Al-Khelaifi that their historic Parc des Princes home was no longer fit-for-purpose.

‘BFMRMCSPORT’ further stated that the City of Ris-Orangis has filed an application in this regard to the PSG which sets the tone for the stadium build – “A very large piece of land for a very large project”. The City has earmarked the land which currently houses a racecourse for the PSG’s new residence and has said that it would be transferable to the Ligue 1 club. They have coined the slogan – ‘Here is Paris in a Big Way!’

In its 24-page application sent to the PSG the City makes a strong case for as to why the PSG should build their new abode in Ris-Orangis – “The proposed land is located 25 km from the Gates of Paris at the Northern entrance to the Grand Paris Sud (urban agglomeration)”.

The entire site comprises 97 hectares, transferable to the PSG, for a stadium that could accommodate between 60,000 to 90,000 spectators.

The City further argued, “There will be no complications involved as regards land control as the land comes under the purview of the Public Land Establishment of Ile de France (EPFIF) on behalf of the Grand Paris Sud-Seine Essonne Sénart urban community (an urban community in the Southern suburbs of Paris, France). This total control of the land by the public authorities will do away with all the bureaucratic hurdles and will expedite the entire exercise of the stadium project work.”

The Public Land Establishment of Ile de France (EPFIF) is a public agency responsible for managing the land in the Île-de-France Region primarily by purchasing the undeveloped land, preparing it for development and then selling it to the developers for housing and economic projects thus effectively acting as a land bank for the region and contributing to the housing needs and economic development of the Paris area.

Dead serious in its intent to build the stadium the City of Ris-Orangis has also carried out a study and has set 2030 as the deadline for the completion of the PSG’s new home venue.

The French Rugby Federation (FFR) had set its sights on the City of Ris-Orangis few years back to construct a majestic stadium.

The application to PSG further states, “The racecourse site sits in the midst of a dense urban area and in close proximity lies a woodland with the River Seine flowing very close by. The 3,500 hectare forest of Sénart is also at a shouting distance and all these factors will keep the sustainability quotient of the venue high as it will help generate clean, renewable energy and minimize the carbon footprints.”

The City’s application to the PSG concludes by stating, “The above factors combine to make the Île-de-France Region the perfect site for the PSG new home arena. The transportation network to and fro the venue will be smooth even when matches are held during night as the C and D Lines of the public transit system – the Regional Express Network – is close at hand. Moreover, the PSG will be the sole project owner of the acquired land.”
