The Honda Center, home of the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks, is all set to undergo a $1 billion renovation project.

Fox 11 said the privately-funded renovation will happen throughout 2027 and the sports and concert venue will remain open through the redevelopment.

The Samueli family, which owns the Ducks, is solely funding the arena project. The improvements are part of the $4 billion mixed-use district under development around the Honda Center known as OCViBE.

OCVibe is a 100-acre master planned campus taking shape around Honda Center with shopping, dining, sports, entertainment, open space, apartments, offices, parking and more underway now and unfolding in the next few years.

The project is bringing the kind of excitement and experiences seen around arenas and stadiums in San Diego, Sacramento, Los Angeles and other cities while also being uniquely Anaheim.

The 18,336-capacity Honda Center is an indoor arena located in Anaheim, California, US. The arena is home to the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League (NHL). Originally named the Anaheim Arena during construction, it was completed in 1993 at a cost of US$123 million.

Olympic Volleyball will be held at the Honda Center during the Los Angeles Games in 2028, marking the first time this premier entertainment and sports venue will host an Olympic event.

The Ducks said upcoming improvements to the venue will include:

  • A new five-story entrance on the south side of the venue with plans for a digital display for viewing parties outdoors and other events
  • New escalators
  • New food and beverage spots that will include self-service to make it easier for fans to grab refreshments and get back to the entertainment
  • New suites for private parties
  • A rollout of new opera box suites on the main concourse as well as renovation of the 68 luxury suites
  • Three new parking garages for 6,000 spaces, increasing available parking by nearly 60%.

Bill Foltz, CEO of OC Sports and Entertainment, said, “This is more than just an investment in a venue — it’s an investment in Anaheim and the future of Orange County as a global destination for live entertainment.

Honda Center Encore reflects our commitment to delivering a world-class experience for every guest, every visit — all made possible through the vision and generosity of the Samueli Family.

“It’s testimony to the Samueli family, how they feel about Anaheim and Orange County, how passionately they feel about our fans to make this kind of commitment. It’s a gift. It also creates a tremendous sense of obligation. We want to get this right.”

Jennifer Symington, assistant vice president of marketing for the American Honda Motor Co. added, “As our partnership approaches two decades, we are proud to be a part of this re-imagining of the Honda Center into a world-class facility where dreams come true.

“This renewed commitment to the community and visitors will make Orange County and the Honda Center a premier destination for sports and entertainment.”
