Mark Lamping extends contract with Jacksonville Jaguars Image: Jacksonville Jaguars

The NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars have extended the contract of team President Mark Lamping for at least another five years.

The Jaguars said the agreement will ensure that Lamping will continue to lead the team’s business operations through the 2030 NFL season.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are a professional American football team based in Jacksonville, Florida (US). The Jaguars compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member of the American Football Conference South Division. The team plays its home games at the 67,838-capacity EverBank Stadium.

Owner Shad Khan said, “As we look ahead at what will be crucially important years for the Jaguars off the field, especially given all that involves the Stadium of the Future project, the leadership of Mark Lamping is needed more than ever.

“I’m very happy and proud to say that Mark will continue to serve as our team president, and I thank Mark for his commitment to making the Jacksonville Jaguars a model business organization throughout the NFL and in all of sports.”

Lamping said, “It was a privilege to be named president of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2012 and my experience since that moment has been rewarding in every respect imaginable.

“I am grateful to Shad and his family for the opportunity to continue in our mission to make the Jaguars and, by extension, Downtown Jacksonville and our community the very best they can be.

“I’m especially in debt to my colleagues throughout our front office. They’re the ones who come through for our organization every day and are every bit as confident as I am that we will meet and exceed our potential in the years ahead.”

The Jacksonville Jaguars ‘Stadium of the Future’ plan is a project to transform downtown Jacksonville and secure NFL Football in Northeast Florida well into the future.

Construction would begin after the 2025 season, with the Jaguars playing in front of a reduced capacity in 2026. The team’s home games would then take place away from Jacksonville the following season while the stadium is being renovated.

The Jaguars say that their plans “call for a reimagined stadium with an environmentally-friendly and cost-effective structure that showcases state-of-the-art innovation.”

Among these innovations is a transparent protective canopy that provide sun, wind and rain protection and reduce heat retention by 70 percent, as well as a 360-degree concourse, “immersive” in-bowl digital and lighting technology and a subtropical nature park open year-round to the visitors.

The 63,000-seat, open-air stadium stadium plan also includes 140 percent more concourse space, 190 new points of sale (POS), 16 new escaladers, 12 new elevators, and 12 new restrooms.

The capacity could be expanded to 71,500 to accommodate the annual Florida-Georgia college football rivalry, the Gator Bowl (an annual college football bowl game held in Jacksonville, Florida), a College Football Playoff game or a Final Four basketball tournament (the final round of both the men’s and women’s NCAA Division I basketball tournaments).

Pools and a party deck would remain in the North end zone.
