The King of Jordan King Abdullah II has directed the Government to build a new international football stadium to support the sports sector and youth in Jordan.

‘Roya News’ stated that additionally His Majesty has instructed the development of sports facilities in Al Hussein Youth City, Jordan’s first sports complex, along with the continued enhancement of other sports venues in the capital and across the Governorates.

The 20,000-capacity Al-Hussein Youth City, commonly known as the Sports City, is located in the Northeastern part of Amman along Queen Rania Street. Construction on it was initiated in 1964 and it is the first sports complex to be established in Jordan. In addition to the sporting events it has also hosted significant cultural and political events.

‘Roya News’ further stated that the above initiative is part of the King’s ongoing support for sports and youth recognizing the achievements of the Jordanian athletes. His Majesty emphasized that the Jordanian champions who have proudly represented the country on international stages deserve Government support including world-class sports facilities.
