The destination of Norlana on the Coast of the Gulf of Aqaba in NEOM will include a polo field that can be converted into a football field and an indoor multisports hall to be one of NEOM’s locations capable of hosting local and international events.

Expect a state-of-the-art 120-berth marina and superyacht members club, a spectacular 18-hole golf course and a world-class equestrian and polo center. A place for like-minded people to unwind.

NEOM is a new urban area being built by Saudi Arabia in Tabuk. Launched in 2017 by the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, the site is at the Northern tip of the Red Sea, due East of Egypt across the Gulf of Aqaba and South of Jordan. The total planned area of NEOM is 26,500 km².

NEOM will be like nowhere else on Earth. A new precedent for the protection, preservation and regeneration of Nature. A biodiverse destination creating a world-changing model for regenerative tourism.

‘dezeen’ stated that the Saudi mega-development NEOM has revealed the Norlana town wrapped around a marina on the Gulf of Aqaba designed by the architecture studio 10 Design.

Planned for 3,000 residents, the town will be built as part of a cluster of developments being planned on the Gulf of Aqaba in the Northwest of Saudi Arabia as part of NEOM.

The Gulf of Aqaba or the Gulf of Eilat is a large gulf at the Northern tip of the Red Sea, East of the Sinai Peninsula and West of the Arabian Peninsula. Its coastline is divided among four countries: Egypt, Israel, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia. The Northernmost coral reef in the world is situated near the Eilat Shore.

The architecture studio 10 Design, part of the Egis Group, is an international architecture and master planning practice with offices in Hong Kong, Edinburgh (UK), Dubai (UAE), Miami (US), London (UK), Shenzhen (China), Singapore, and San Francisco (US). Founded in 2010, the practice has won over 80 international awards and major design competitions.

‘dezeen’ further stated that the coastal town will be designed by architecture studio 10 Design with a focus on sport.

The development’s 700 apartments and two hotels will be arranged around a 120-berth marina.

Commented Chris Jones, 10 Design Managing Principal, “Historically, settlements have been founded by water, and so the heart of Norlana is the marina. It’s this bowl of vibrancy from which you can migrate to the different communities.”

The marina will be surrounded by stacked blocks featuring numerous cantilevers, which the architect designed to merge into the surrounding mountains.

Remarked Rochana Verma, 10 Design Architect, “When you arrive, coming in by water along the Gulf of Aqaba, you see buildings that appear to be growing out of the mountains.”

Added Jones, “You start to see that the hillsides are actually buildings and that the fingers on the beach are actually villas. Then you are drawn to the marinas and the plaza and the public realm and the bustle of people right down to the water’s edge.”

Norlana is the ninth region announced as part of the mega-development and joins four other tourism destinations planned to be built in the Gulf of Aqaba as part of NEOM.

Along with Norlana, Utamo is described as a “theater of the future”, Leyja is a collection of three luxury hotels, Epicon is a pair of jagged skyscrapers, and Siranna is a hotel made of hexagonal pillars.

The projects form part of NEOM, which is one of the world’s largest and most controversial developments and includes plans for a 170-kilometer-long City called ‘The Line’.

‘NEOM’ further stated that Norlana has been designed to redefine contemporary and active living. With sport, health and well-being at the core of this cutting-edge community, the residents and guests will have every opportunity to experience their passions in this magnificent and environmentally sustainable setting.

Aligned with NEOM’s commitment to conservation, Norlana will complement its coastal location and be delivered innovatively and sustainably. With a focus on preserving the surrounding land and the marine environments, Norlana will offer the pinnacle of ultra-luxury modern living through a harmonious blend of nature and technology.
