The naming partner for Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina, was presented for the next seven years at a presser held on April 5th. The naming rights deal has been secured until April 2029.

With the securing of the naming rights deal, the new name of Monumental Stadium is Mâs Monumental.

The ‘River Plate’ stated that the presser was attended by the President of Grupo De Narváez (GDN) (the group which has secured the naming rights), Francisco de Narváez, and the President of the Argentine professional sports club River Plate, Jorge Brito.

Club Atlético River Plate, commonly known as River Plate, is an Argentine professional sports club based in the Núñez neighborhood of Buenos Aires (Argentina), and was founded on May 25th, 1901, and named after the English name for the City’s estuary, Río de la Plata. Although many sports are practiced at the club, River Plate is best known for its professional football team, which has won Argentina’s Primera División championship a record 36 times.

Officially named as the Estadio Monumental Antonio Vespucio Liberti, after the club President that initiated its construction in 1938, the ‘Mâs Monumental’ will host 81,000 spectators when completed in mid-2024, making it the largest stadium in South America.

The 72,054-capacity Estadio ‘Monumental’ Antonio Vespucio Liberti, also referred to as River Plate Stadium, Monumental de Nuñez, or simply El Monumental, is a stadium in Belgrano, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and is home of the football club River Plate.

The River Plate is going ahead with carrying out a total redevelopment of its home ground while maintaining the pristine sheen of the iconic stadium. The facility will wear an avant-garde look to measure up to the standards of the spiffy stadia coming up all over the globe.

The new name, with its new logo, will be displayed on the different billboards in the stadium precinct. The Mâs brand will also feature on the River Camp welcome billboard.

The ‘River Plate’ further stated that the money from the naming rights deal will be utilized to fund part of the ‘Mâs Monumental’ redecoration work. The same was greenlighted by the Board of Directors and then by the Assembly of Member Representatives.

Remarked Jorge Brito, “The naming rights agreement is a historic moment for River Plate as well as for the members and fans of our club. Only naming rights deals have helped facilitate modernization as well as capacity expansion of stadia all over the globe. We hail Mâs joining us, which will help us fulfill our dream of boasting an expansive and luxurious Monumental Stadium with premier facilities for our fans. The very thought that El Monumental will be the largest stadium in South America fills us with pride.”

Francisco De Narváez put in, “This deal between a prestigious club that represents the passion of millions of Argentines, and a company like ours, which has more than 92 branches in Argentina, will surely help the club as well as our company to grow by leaps and bounds. In a world full of challenges, we are ready to take on the gauntlet along with River Plate.”

GDN (Grupo De Narváez) Argentina, the controlling group of the Mâs family of brands (Hiper ChangoMAS, ChangoMAS, Super ChangoMAS, Punto Mayorista, and MasOnline) is the ninth largest private employer in the country, with more than 9,200 direct employees in 92 stores, distributed in 21 provinces of the national territory and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.
