The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad (Gujarat, India) will host the Indian Premier League (IPL) Final for the second year in a row on May 31st, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on May 6th.

‘THE NEW INDIAN EXPRESS’ stated that the city of Ahmedabad has emerged as a preferred venue for the summit clash having also hosted the Finals in 2022 and 2023 in addition to last year.

The Narendra Modi Stadium is an international cricket stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. With a total capacity of 132,000 it is the world’s largest cricket stadium and the largest overall stadium in the world by capacity.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a professional Twenty20 (T20) cricket league in India organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Founded in 2007, it features 10 city-based franchise teams. The IPL is the most popular and richest cricket league in the world and the 11th richest sporting league in the world by revenue. It is held annually between March and May.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the principal national governing body of the sport of cricket in India. Its headquarters are situated at the Cricket Centre in the 39,000-seat Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The BCCI is the wealthiest governing body of cricket in the world. It has a revenue of more than ₹9,700 crore (US$1.0 billion).
 

Matchups Details

‘THE NEW INDIAN EXPRESS’ further stated that the Qualifier 1 is slated to be held in Dharamshala (city in Himachal Pradesh, India) and the remaining two playoff matches to be held in New Chandigarh (City in Punjab, India).

The BCCI sent out a statement which read, “The Qualifier 1 featuring the top two teams in the standings will be played on May 26th at the 21,200-capacity HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala with a direct berth. The action will then move to the 31,150-capacity New International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh which will host the Eliminator on May 27th between the third and the fourth-placed teams. The same venue will also stage Qualifier 2 on May 29th.”

The Qualifier 2 will feature the loser of Qualifier 1 and the winner of the Eliminator to determine the second finalist.

The BCCI statement further read, “The season will conclude with the grand Final on May 31st at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad – the world’s largest cricket stadium – setting the stage for a spectacular finale.”
