David Beckham Overtown Soccer stadium

While it’s still a ways away from being built, the first images of Miami Beckham United’s proposed South Florida soccer stadium have been made public.

The rendering was part of a presentation made by David Beckham’s team at the first town hall meeting regarding the stadium back on December 17, 2015.

The design, the artist’s rendering of the partially-enclosed facility, was developed when Beckham’s group was planning to build across from Marlin’s Park. Now, they plan to build the 25,000 seat stadium on nine acres in Overtown, so some changes may be needed.

Tim Leiweke, one of the partners in Beckham’s group, told the Miami Herald that the rendering came from the original plans to build the stadium in Little Havana next to Marlins Park.

Leiweke also said that the group used the rendering to show that the stadium would also fit on the two-block area in Overtown that they are hoping is the future home of Beckham’s MLS team.

The actual stadium could end up looking different than the rendering as it’s only an initial design. Also, the City of Miami must approve of the final plan before construction begins.

In under two years, David Beckham has proposed four stadium sites and awaits for approval as three previous ones fell through.
