UEFA Conference League Final 2023 in Prague Image: Sinobo Group

The 2022-2023 UEFA Europa Conference League final will take place at Prague’s (Czech Republic) Eden Aréna on June 7th, 2023.

The ‘UEFA’ stated that home of the Czech professional football club Slavia Praha, the compact, atmospheric venue was opened by the Czech former professional footballer Vladimír Šmicer in 2008 and has since staged several significant matches at the club and international level.

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) is one of FIFA’s six continental governing bodies for association football. It administers football, futsal and beach soccer in Europe as well as Israel in Asia and the EuroAsian transcontinental countries of Russia, Turkey, Cyprus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, and Kazakhstan. UEFA consists of 55 national association members. Because of the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, FIFA and UEFA suspended from FIFA and UEFA competitions all Russian teams, whether national representative teams or club teams.

The UEFA Europa Conference League, colloquially referred to as the UEFA Conference League, is an annual football club competition organized by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) for eligible European football clubs.

Sinobo Stadium (formerly known as Eden Aréna) is a football stadium, in Prague-Vršovice, Czech Republic. The stadium has a capacity of 20,800 people and it is the biggest and the most modern football stadium in the Czech Republic. It is the home venue of SK Slavia Prague and occasionally the Czech Republic national football team.

SK Slavia Prague, commonly known as Slavia Praha or Slavia Prague, is a Czech professional football club in Prague. Founded in 1892, they are the second most successful club in the Czech Republic since its independence in 1993.

The ‘UEFA’ further stated that the 2013 UEFA Super Cup took place at the Eden Aréna, with the Bundesliga giant FC Bayern Munich (Germany) defeating the Premier League club Chelsea F.C. 5-4 on penalties following a 2-2 draw over 120 minutes, and a showpiece game also went the distance two years later in the 2015 U21 Euro final, Sweden seeing off Portugal 4-3 on spot-kicks.

The Czech professional football club FC Viktoria Plzeň played at the Eden Aréna during their maiden UEFA Champions League group stage campaign in 2011-2012. More recently, the venue has enjoyed Slavia Praha’s run to three European quarter-finals in four seasons, including this campaign in the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League.

What do the UEFA Europa Conference League winners get?

The UEFA Europa Conference League trophy stands 57.5 cm tall and weighs 11 kg. It consists of 32 hexagonal spines – one for each team in the group stage of the competition – that twist and curve from the trophy base. The curved shape of the spines was inspired by the flight of a football as it heads towards the goal – the ultimate moment of excitement for fans.

The base and top are made from hand-brushed brass with a matte galvanic steel effect, while the spines feature a glossy silver finishing. The trophy was designed in London (UK) studio Pentagram.
