Australia’s National Basketball League with new concept for HoopsFest Image: NBL

The biggest weekend in Australian basketball history has got even bigger with the Australian music electro pop royalty Hayden James set to rock the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia, at HoopsFest spinning his hits on a multi-leveled courtside ‘Boombox’.

‘NBL’ stated that with over half a billion streams across Spotify (Swedish audio streaming and media service provider) and Apple Music (ad-free streaming music service), James will light up the court during the NBL Championship Series rematch between the Australian professional basketball teams Melbourne United and Tasmania JackJumpers on September 19th to kick off the inaugural HoopsFest and then finish the Perth Festival with a bang during the final on-court matchup on September 22nd.

Hayden James is an Australian DJ, songwriter and record producer from Sydney, Australia.

The 15,500-capacity RAC Arena is an entertainment and sporting arena in the City Centre of Perth, Western Australia, used mostly for basketball matches. It is located on Wellington Street near the site of the former Perth Entertainment Centre and was officially opened on November 10th, 2012.

HoopsFest is Australasia’s biggest basketball, culture and lifestyle festival.

Melbourne (Australia)-based the National Basketball League (NBL) is a men’s professional basketball league in Australasia currently composed of 10 teams: Nine in Australia and 1 in New Zealand. It is the premier professional men’s basketball league in Australia and New Zealand.

The Melbourne United is an Australian professional basketball team based in Melbourne, Victoria (Australia). The United compete in the National Basketball League (NBL) and play their home games at the 10,500-capacity John Cain Arena in Melbourne, Australia. The team made their debut in the NBL in 1984 as the Melbourne Tigers.

The Tasmania JackJumpers are an Australian professional basketball team based in Hobart, Tasmania (Australia) who entered the National Basketball League (NBL) in the 2021-2022 seasons and play their home games at the 4,340-capacity MyState Bank Arena in Tasmania and the 5,000-capacity Silverdome in Tasmania, Australia.

‘NBL’ further stated that with the NBL releasing renders of the all-new 30-meter Boombox innovation on July 30th for a first look, spectators can start the season in style and even participate in the headline DJ’s show.

Two tiers of limited ticketing facing the court and encompassing the majority North end of the RAC Arena are available for the fans to enjoy an elevated food, wine, sporting, and music experience for a night to remember.

The premium viewing tickets will start from $275 and will be a fully catered and all-inclusive experience on the custom-built Boombox Upper Deck. The Boombox Lower Bowl tickets will start from $40 and will be adjacent to the court and in close proximity to the Boombox so that the fans can enjoy both basketball and music elements.

The Boombox will also be in place for the September 20th night’s Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL)/NBL double-header with more details to be announced soon.

The Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) is a professional women’s basketball league in Australia composed of eight teams. The league was founded in 1981 and is the women’s counterpart to the National Basketball League (NBL).

James’ Perth Boombox stage sets will be his first performance after his new album release just days before also dropping his hits that shot him up the music charts including ‘Something About You’ and ‘Just Friends’.

Hayden James’ courtside appearance adds to the HoopsFest action which is not very far off. The biggest weekend in Australian basketball history will feature all the NBL and WNBL teams together in the same place at the same time for Round One of the Hungry Jack’s (Australian fast food franchise of the Burger King Corporation) NBL Season, a Cygnett (Australia’s No 1 tech tools brand) WNBL Tournament, the Foot Locker (sportswear company) U18 Australian Club Championships, Sneakerland (Australia’s largest convention of sneakers and streetwear), an interactive fan zone, and other music, food and entertainment.

Perth, one of Australia’s strongest basketball Cities, will set the foundation for this exciting new tradition with 13 NBL and WNBL games and 140 U18 Australian Club Championship games to be played across the blockbuster schedule.
