Dr. Siegmund Gruber is a person with true grit. He has his goals set and followed through. Gruber hold the reins of the Austrian professional football club Linzer ASK and he along with his team has demonstrated resourcefulness and gumption in building the top-notch club’s home ground – the Raiffeisen Arena in Linz, Austria – from a scratch after demolishing the 21,005-capacity Linzer Stadion.

Today, the Raiffeisen Arena (which opened its doors in 2023) illuminates the Linz skyline and Gruber and his team deserves a pat on their backs. The venue has heralded a new era for the Linzer ASK and sustainability permeates into every warp and weft of the facility.

Dr. Siegmund Gruber is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Austrian professional football club Linzer ASK since November 2023. He is an ace in managing huge construction projects and leading project teams.

In a plain-speak with ‘Coliseum’, Dr. Siegmund Gruber, CEO, Linzer ASK, Austria, says that the people at the helm in LASK have taught the players to stay grounded and the Raiffeisen Arena where they ply their trade is a family-friendly stadium where the players-fans-stadium staff is encouraged to mingle and stay like one big family enjoying a lot of camaraderie. He also says that they mean business for which they do not have VIP seats in the venue and only business seats as this will “help us to build our business network and we also have parking slots only for our business class guests”. This is the principle by which the club is guided.

Linzer ASK

The Linzer ASK, commonly known as the LASK, is an Austrian professional football club based in Linz, Austria. It plays in the Austrian Football Bundesliga, the top tier of Austrian football.

Raiffeisen Arena

The Raiffeisen Arena is a football stadium in Linz, Austria. It opened in 2023 on the site of the Linzer Stadion which was built in 1952 and demolished in 2021. The new stadium has a total of 19,080 seats with 17,117 seats available for international matches. It serves as the residence of the Linzer ASK.

Sustainability at Heart

Sustainability is at the heart of the Raiffeisen Arena where there is a lot of green space for indoor and outdoor use. The construction materials used are all sustainable and environment-friendly.

The LASK home stands tall today and all credit goes to Gruber and his team who have worked by the sweat of their brows as he narrated that COVID-19 and the Ukraine War proved to be stumbling blocks – “It was challenging for us but we managed to sail through. The Raiffeisen Arena opened in February 2023 after a build time of 15 months.”

The Raiffeisen Arena offers the fans a special football experience as Gruber informed, “We have 42 Sky Boxes which can accommodate 600 people and 1,500 business seats. We do not call it VIP seats as we want to build our business network. The arena also boasts a restaurant and a bakery which cater to the crowd on matchdays.”

The facility’s unique roof design spans the entire stadium and is one of the most impressive features of the arena apart from the top-notch training facilities.

The Business Club

Dr. Gruber and his team at LASK mean business which is why they do not have VIP seats in the venue but business seats – “The Business Club offers a bright and stylish atmosphere infused with distinctive design elements providing a unique setting for both networking and enjoying the game of football.”

It also features plush seating, refrigerators and on-call hostesses thus enhancing the matchday experience for the crème de la crème segment of guests.

On a total of three floors, the LASK, BWT Business Club offers a space for over 2,000 guests per home game. A bright, stylish ambience – paired with design elements – ensures an exclusive football atmosphere. High-quality catering takes care of refreshments for the visitors. In addition, the BWT Business Club offers a platform for maintaining regular contacts within an attractive mix of industries.

Family Stand

A visit to the Raiffeisen Arena proves to be a one-of-a-kind experience for the family. With the special Family Season Ticket, which includes seats in LASK’s family stand, there is an affordable way to visit the Raiffeisen Arena regularly with the whole family and it is very wallet-friendly.

Averred Dr. Gruber, “The Raiffeisen Arena provides great opportunity to spend time with the family. Hours before the kickoff the LASK fan zone keeps both the young and the old entertained. Combined with the excitement of our black and white team’s matches a visit to the Raiffeisen Arena becomes an unforgettable and family-friendly experience.”

He added that it is a Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Category 4-compliant stadium and is in a position to hold major soccer shows.

Sum-up

The Raiffeisen Arena is today the talk of the town and has emerged as a game-changer for LASK and Austrian football as a whole. Fans are getting attracted to the venue like moths to the flame.

Dr. Siegmund Gruber and his team have done a stellar job – they have built the entire club – from the staff to the stadium as the office is also housed within the venue.

He sums up by frankly admitting that “We have no special seats for the General Admission (GA) tickets category of fans and anybody who wants a very high level of comfort will have to buy the Business Club tickets.”
