A pioneering endurance racing series that transforms Formula 1 circuits into world class running venues is on the grid.

RunGP said that backed by a revolutionary league structure, cutting edge technology, a bold commercial vision and an event distribution partnership with DAZN, it is setting its sights on transforming the sport at every level.

RunGP is the flagship series of the Global Running League (GRL), a newly established sporting property designed to merge elite competition, mass participation and high stakes entertainment.

Unlike traditional marathon racing, RunGP introduces a team-based format, integrating pro athletes, influencers and celebrity backed squads to engage both competitors and fans alike.

Marcel Muenster, CEO of RunGP, said, “For too long, running has been treated as an individual pursuit.

“We’re introducing a new, commercially viable format where the spectacle matches the sport, where technology enhances the viewing experience and where participation is accessible to all. The potential for innovation in running has been untapped, and we intend to change that.”

RunGP’s debut season kicks off at Lusail International Circuit in Qatar on 9-10 May 2025, with a high octane mix of professional and amateur races, including:

  • RunGP Qatar Final – A high-stakes elite team relay, featuring four squads competing over seven 1km laps.
  • RunGP Qatar 7.032 – A mass participation race (7.032km, or 1/6 of a marathon), designed for runners of all levels.
  • Moonlight Circuit – A unique, immersive night race featuring LED lit tracks and visual storytelling.
  • One Mo Mile – A youth focused event inspired by Olympic champion Sir Mo Farah.

With its introduction of live biometrics, digital overlays and enhanced fan engagement, RunGP is positioned to redefine endurance racing for the modern era.

Muenster added, “Running is the most accessible sport in the world, but it has lacked a structured competitive league. RunGP provides the missing piece, creating an experience that excites both runners and spectators.

“With elite team competitions and mass participation at iconic circuits, we are turning running into something bigger than ever before.”

RunGP is partnering with DAZN for its debut series, the world’s leading sports destination platform, who will supercharge growth of the property – exposing it to a global audience.

Sitting alongside other elite properties, RunGP will be bolstered by DAZN’s unparalleled broadcast and fan engagement technology, reach and scale.

RunGP isn’t just redefining competition. It’s transforming how the sport is experienced with:

  • Web3 Powered Rewards – In partnership with Sweat Economy, all RunGP participants will earn real world movement rewards, including cryptocurrency-based incentives and exclusive digital assets.
  • Next-Gen Broadcast Graphics – Advanced biometrics will showcase real time heart rate, perspiration levels and AI driven race analytics, bringing deeper storytelling to fans.
  • Luxury VVIP Hospitality – RunGP is reinventing the premium race day experience by shifting away from traditional alcohol centric VIP setups to wellness driven, movement focused hospitality, aligning with the league’s sustainability ethos.
  • Socially Sponsored Teams – Unlike conventional franchise models, RunGP teams will be purpose driven, integrating celebrity athletes, crossover influencers and sustainability focused sponsors.
