Fans of Premier League club Everton FC have chosen The Prince Rupert as the name of the pub at the new Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Everton FC said more than 6,000 supporters took part in an online vote to name the latest addition to the vibrant, fan-focused area on Level 3 of the West Stand at the new stadium.

Open to supporters with a membership or matchday access to Village Street, The Prince Rupert will be a social and atmospheric space steeped in the heritage of the Club.

The name was selected from a fan-curated shortlist inspired by local history, football culture, and Everton heritage.

Everton FC said the winning entry pays tribute to the historic lock-up or tower that features on Everton’s Club crest, named after a historic figure from the 17th Century – tying tradition and local pride into the heart of the matchday experience.

Everton Football Club is a professional association football club based in Liverpool, England (UK). The club competes in the Premier League, the top tier of English football. Everton has spent more seasons in England’s top division than any other club (121) and has been crowned league champions on nine occasions.

The 52,888-capacity Everton Stadium, currently known as the Hill Dickinson Stadium for sponsorship reasons, is a football stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock in Vauxhall, Liverpool, England (UK).

It became the home ground for the Everton F.C. ahead of the 2025-2026 seasons replacing the Goodison Park.

Everton FC further stated that The Prince Rupert will join three other distinctive bars on Village Street:

  • The Queen’s Head – inspired by the pub where Everton Football Club was founded
  • Dixie’s Sports Bar – a lively venue showcasing live sport from around the world
  • Kendall’s Social – a space designed for music, entertainment, and socialising pre- and post-match

The Prince Rupert won the fan vote with 28.2% of the poll. It beat off The Southall Arms (24.9%), Toffee Tavern (19.5%), Eddie Cavanagh’s (13%), The Royle Oak (12.9%) and The Giants Taproom (1.6%).

Named after the original Liverpool street that housed the pub where St Domingo FC became Everton Football Club, Village Street will be one of the most unique fan experiences in the Premier League.

Blending traditional football atmosphere with modern hospitality, Village Street features:

  • Characterful pub environments
  • Street food offerings
  • Live music and entertainment
  • Inclusive food and drink packages
  • Halfway line seating in the West Stand
