The National Football League (NFL) team Tampa Bay Buccaneers has a job opening for the post of Vice-President, Stadium Operations, in Tampa, Florida, US. Once appointed, he/she will have to report to the Chief Operating Officer (COO).

‘TURNKEY ZRG’ stated that the above position is onsite in the Tampa Bay Metro area. Tampa Bay is located on the West Central coast of Florida, US.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a professional American football team based in Tampa, Florida, US. The Buccaneers compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference South division.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been owned by the Glazer family since 1995. The team was founded in 1974 and began playing as members of the National Football League (NFL) in 1976. The Buccaneers have earned seven division championships, two conference championships and two Super Bowl Championships.

The 75,000-capacity Raymond James Stadium is a multipurpose stadium in Tampa, Florida (US) that opened in 1998 and is home to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League (NFL).

Position Summary:

The Vice-President of Stadium Operations (‘VP’) will be responsible for the interaction between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers organization and the food service and retail partner(s), the Tampa Sports Authority and all Buccaneers departments and their utilization of the stadium. The VP will identify opportunities to improve and maximize the fan’s overall customer experience at the Raymond James Stadium and oversee team-related food and beverage (F&B) and retail operations in accordance with the concession and retail partner agreement(s). This individual will have expertise in both processes and technical innovation around the F&B function. The VP will also be responsible for communicating to all partners the team’s vision as it relates to establishing itself as a premier venue in every aspect of customer service and fan engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Core Functions

  • Operational oversight of all aspects of the relationship with food and beverage and retail partner(s), including all staffing, customer service, catering business development, training, menus, and pricing;
  • Oversee the day-to-day, event-by-event communication, planning and scheduling between the food and beverage and retail partner(s) and the Tampa Sports Authority and all event tenants;
  • Manage of vendor relationships for all aspects on behalf of the Buccaneers, including game and weekday team store operations;
  • Oversee of vendor relationships for online retail operations, including marketing strategy, campaign execution and customer service;
  • Analyze and report on key performance measures;
  • Audit events and monthly PNL for both retail and F&B;
  • Observe and improve gameday and event food and beverage and retail operations, including speed of service, customer service, staffing, food service, presentation, and sanitation;
  • Facilitate communications between Buccaneers departments and the Tampa Sports Authority to align organizational goals;
  • Manage team retail inventory and procurement process, including coordinating with departments for ordering;
  • Lead with a sense of urgency and the highest level of customer service when merchandise is being used as a brand or marketing tool for ticket sales, member benefits, community impact, and other needs;
  • Use a high touch, responsive personal style and communicate in an articulate, open and sincere manner that engenders trust with all constituencies;
  • Demonstrate a willingness to make tough decisions but always treat people fairly and with respect;
  • Project an even-keeled style characterized by openness, approachability and confidence without arrogance;
  • Display the highest personal integrity and ethics;
  • Design processes, workflow and systems designer to track progress effectively and efficiently;
  • Inspire individuals, teams and an entire organization to perform at a higher level and to embrace change; and
  • Additional duties as required.

 

Stadium Management Responsibilities

  • Management of and liaison to the Tampa Sports Authority with specific contract administration knowledge to protect all Buccaneer assets and rights within the stadium lease agreement;
  • Lead all third parties in the stadium (mostly for Buccaneers events) to ensure a Buccaneer event is executed at the highest level;
  • Build and maintain relationships with non-Buccaneers event promoters to protect Buccaneers interests and revenue from other events;
  • Serve as the POC and liaison for any NFL function or event occurring at the RJS stadium, ensure all expectations are met (i.e., Superbowl, Draft Party Host, Pro Bowl, Playoff games);
  • Advise Buccaneers finance of all expenditures and capital being deployed on an annual basis, always protecting the Buccaneers interests within the terms of the lease agreement, respective of the Buccaneers investment vs. the Tampa Sports Authority investment; and
  • Orchestrate, lead and facilitate all pre- and post-operational meetings related to Buccaneers events. Take the second chair for other event meetings but always protect Buccaneers interests.

 

Organizational Responsibilities

  • Be an integral part of the Executive team, attending weekly meetings to brief executive team members and COO on the operations of the stadium. Nurture and manage strong relationships with high-level executive partners and key stakeholders;
  • Work closely with the following departments as they have a significant impact on the stadium operations, overall guest experience and ancillary income;
  • Sponsorship: Understand sponsorship deals to ensure 100 percent benefit to Buccaneers and all revenue streams;
  • Ticketing: Understand ticket sales strategy and pricing to possibly bundle and enhance the fan experience through F&B/merchandise, therefore, creating value and brand loyalty;
  • Guest Services: Understand the role of Guest Services and further develop a stadiumwide Guest Service Department. Often this position must mediate between the Guest Services Department to assist in resolving negative guest experiences and reinforce good experiences;
  • Community Impact: Understand all community events and be prepared to assist with any stadium services that can be utilized;
  • HR, Finance and Legal: Building and nurturing an executive team relationship is critical with these departments. The candidate should be experienced in all these disciplines but does not need to be a specialist; and
  • Ownership Group Interaction: Present, discuss and approach ownership regularly. Act as an organizational and departmental representative when interacting with ‘celebrity status’ individuals.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

General Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience;
  • Proven communicator with the ability to effectively disseminate information upward and downward;
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, using strong analytical skills, opportunities for efficiencies and improvement to the customer experience;
  • History of managing multiple stakeholders and communicating and coordinating across diverse groups;
  • Experience skillfully negotiating both internally and externally to achieve a fair outcome or promote a common cause; and
  • History of building motivated, high-performing teams.

 

Food and Beverage – Technical Experience

  • Extensive food and beverage operations knowledge, including service methods and protocols for serving high-net-worth clients;
  • Held a leadership position with professional sports teams or third party company;
  • Contract management and negotiation skills;
  • Deep knowledge of financial reporting and profit margin expectations for an annual $30M+ segment of the business;
  • Understanding and vision for technology advancements in the F&B industry to produce a favorable return on investment (ROI) and enhanced customer experience;
  • Deep understanding of all health and public safety food service regulations; and
  • Current knowledge and certifications of all alcoholic beverage laws and regulations.

 

Merchandise and Apparel – Technical Experience

  • Excel at third party contract administration of Fanatics Merchandise Company with knowledge of how to manage a multibillion-dollar company in Fanatics, but still get Buccaneers the attention and financial benefits within the guidelines of the contract; and
  • Experienced in merchandise inventory and supply chain within venue (non-E-commerce) operations to ensure demand is met throughout the season and jerseys and player apparel are correctly represented.

 

Stadium Management – Technical Experience

  • The overall knowledge of a stadium-sized venue, including, life safety knowledge, crowd control, security, event booking, and guest experience; and
  • Capital projects and construction management knowledge with firm understanding of Buccaneers investment vs. Tampa Sports Authority (manages the Raymond James Stadium) investment.
