Sportpark Stadion (SSF) has launched a Europe-wide tender for general planning services for the multifunctional arena which will be built next to Eintracht Frankfurt’s Deutsche Bank Park stadium.

SSF said this marks another important milestone on the path toward realizing a modern indoor venue for sports, culture, and entertainment in Frankfurt.

The tender covers planning services for the preliminary assessment and conceptual design phases for the arena project.

The objective is to develop the scheme’s conceptual and functional foundations and to establish a reliable basis for decision-making for the subsequent steps. The contract award is scheduled for July 2026.

The planned arena is intended in particular to sustainably strengthen professional indoor sports in Frankfurt.

The new multipurpose arena will be built in the immediate vicinity of the existing stadium and will serve as a modern venue for sports, concerts and other major events.

The 58,000-capacity Waldstadion, currently known as Deutsche Bank Park for sponsorship purposes, is a retractable roof sports stadium in Frankfurt, Hesse, Germany. The home stadium of the football club Eintracht Frankfurt, it opened in 1925.

The future home venue will offer new development potential, particularly for the Frankfurt Skyliners professional basketball club and Löwen Frankfurt professional ice hockey team.

The project also strengthens Frankfurt’s position as a sports and cultural center and makes a significant contribution to the further development of the city’s sports facilities.

For the Skyliners and Löwen Frankfurt, the new venue will open up long-term prospects in terms of infrastructure, marketing opportunities, spectator comfort, and competitiveness.

At the same time, it will provide flexible usage options for additional sports and cultural events at both national and international levels.

Mayor Mike Josef said, “With the publication of this tender, we are taking the next decisive step toward the future of Frankfurt as a hub for sports and culture.

“The multifunctional arena will be a key component in the further development of our city—economically, socially, and culturally. We are creating a place that brings people together and has international appeal.”

Moritz Schneider, Managing Director of SSF, added, “The tendering of the general planner marks the transition from strategic preparation to the concrete planning phase.

“Our ambition is to develop an arena that meets the requirements of modern professional sports while also serving as a versatile event venue for Frankfurt and the wider region.”
