The United Kingdom (UK) appears set to host the 2035 Women’s World Cup™ after the FIFA President Gianni Infantino described its interest as the “one valid bid” for the tournament.

‘ddnews.gov.in’ stated that England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales (UK) announced last month that they would submit a joint bid to host the finals.

The 2035 FIFA Women’s World Cup™ is scheduled to be the 12th edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup™, the quadrennial international women’s football championship contested by the national teams that represent the member associations of FIFA. The tournament will be held in the United Kingdom and will involve 32 or 48 national teams including the four representing the constituent countries of the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland).

Zürich (Switzerland)-based the Fédération Internationale de Football Association, more commonly known by its acronym FIFA, is the international self-regulatory governing body of association football, beach soccer and futsal.

Mark Bullingham, The Football Association (FA) head honcho, sent out a statement which read, “We are honored to be the sole bidder for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2035™. Hosting the first FIFA World Cup™ since 1966 with our Home Nations (in the context of sports the ‘Home Nations’ typically refers to the constituent countries of the United Kingdom: England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland) partners will be very special. The hard work starts now to put together the best possible bid by the end of the year.”

London (UK)-based The Football Association (FA) is the governing body of association football in England and the Crown Dependencies of Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man. Formed in 1863 it is the oldest football association in the world and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the amateur and professional game in its territory.

‘ddnews.gov.in’ further stated that the United States is also poised to be named host of the 2031 World Cup as the only bid.

Infantino said at the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Congress (supreme controlling body of the UEFA) in Belgrade (Serbia) recently, “We received one bid for 2031 and one bid – one valid bid I should add – for 2035. The 2035 bid is from Europe, from the Home Nations.”

Nyon (Switzerland)-based the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) is one of six continental bodies of governance in association football. It governs football, futsal and beach football in Europe and the transcontinental countries of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Kazakhstan as well as the West Asian countries of Cyprus, Armenia and Israel. The UEFA consists of 55 national association members. Since 2022, due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the FIFA and the UEFA suspended all Russian national teams and clubs from any FIFA and UEFA competitions.

The FIFA is scheduled to confirm the Women’s World Cup hosts next year.

Brazil will host the 2027 event which will feature 32 teams.
