Taking a page out of Germany’s World Club Dome which held its first drive-in rave recently, which went viral on social media, American artistes are having a go at it ― and Orlando’s Central Florida Fairgrounds in US will stage the first one on June 6 this year.

Orlando-based DJ and producer Carnage ― already a festival pro with his scintillating fests here in the City Beautiful (Orlando) ― announced Road Rave on his Facebook Page recently, ‘THE FIRST EVER NORTH AMERICAN FESTIVAL IN CORONA HISTORY!

Termed Road Rave, its lineup will feature Carnage, American DJ and producer based in El Paso, Texas, Riot Ten, musical artistes Blunts & Blondes, Nitti Gritti and Gravedgr.

A press release sent out stated that the four-hour event in June will have “a full festival main stage production”. Road Rave is already making people sit up and take notice in international media outlets like Pitchfork and British music journalism website NME.

Keeping in mind the health crisis caused due to coronavirus outbreak and in order to maintain social distancing, there is a maximum capacity of 500 vehicles; a limit of six and a minimum of two passengers per vehicle. On-site food trucks will provide concessions and “roaming golf cart vendors” will take orders.

Those who will be attending the festival are encouraged to wear face masks and “social distancing will be heavily enforced with strict guidelines and restrictions on when attendees are allowed to safely leave their vehicle,” as per the event’s Facebook page.

Carnage will also donate an unknown portion of money from the event proceeds to the ANF COVID-19 Relief Fund, which assists vulnerable communities in Nicaragua.

It will be a four-hour event, with “a full festival main stage production” apparently set to be in place.

Tickets for the event are on sale now. Guests “MUST stay within the width of your vehicle,” the event’s FAQ section states.

“You cannot dance or group with anyone outside of your vehicle. We will have staff monitoring for social distancing, please follow their instructions. You will be asked to leave if you do not comply. We are all in this together, be safe and be smart,” the Facebook page further mentions.

Earlier this month, Denmark did a pilot run of drive-in gigs to circumvent the coronavirus restrictions.
