The Canadian Premier League team Vancouver FC (Canada) revealed the first rendering of its new stadium on February 9th ahead of the launch of ticket sales for the club’s inaugural season in the coming weeks.

‘Vancouver FC & SixFive Sports’ stated that Vancouver FC is scheduled to host its inaugural home match on May 7th at 4 pm PT against its peer team Cavalry FC.

The Canadian Premier League (CPL) is a professional men’s soccer league in Canada. At the top of the Canadian soccer league system, it is the country’s primary national soccer league competition. The league consists of eight teams, from five of Canada’s 10 provinces.

The Vancouver Football Club, commonly known as Vancouver FC, is a Canadian professional soccer club in Langley, British Columbia (Canada). The club competes in the Canadian Premier League at the top of the Canadian soccer league system.

The Vancouver FC will play in a new stadium at Langley’s Willoughby Community Park. It will have a capacity of 6,560 seats in its initial configuration with potential for further expansion. Construction began in February 2023 using modular prefabricated elements.

‘Vancouver FC & SixFive Sports’ further stated that the soccer-specific stadium, a first in the Lower Mainland, will offer as many as 6,560 local soccer fans an immersive gameday experience during the club’s first season in 2023, as it aims to build an atmosphere to rival some of the best in the game worldwide. The stadium, located at the Willoughby Community Park (park in Langley Township, Canada) at the Langley Events Centre, is designed to grow with the club and its surrounding community, and will be able to expand in capacity and amenities to serve its supporters now and in the future.

The Langley Events Centre is a 322,312-square-foot multipurpose facility in the Township of Langley, British Columbia, Canada. The Langley Events Centre opened its gates in April 2009, hosting the 2009 BC Gymnastics Championships. It boasts an arena bowl with a 5,276 capacity for sports, including 24 individual suites.

Fans who have already submitted a deposit to become a founding season ticket member for Vancouver’s inaugural 2023 regular season will be contacted in the coming weeks about ticketing and will continue to be first in line for special promotions as they become available. General ticket sales will follow.

Fans still interested in becoming a founding season ticket member can place a deposit here.

Remarked Rob Friend, President, Vancouver FC, “We are delighted to share our vision for our future home with our fans, who can expect a stadium to rise before their eyes in the coming months as we look ahead to hosting our first match in club history later this year. We are excited to provide a proper football experience to every fan that walks through our doors, and to see this stadium come to life in the near future.”

The South end of the stadium will be home to Vancouver’s supporters’ groups, giving some of the most ardent fans the opportunity to take in the action arm in arm with the fellow members of the community. The east grandstand will be home to a Cabana Club, while VIP dining and Tunnel Club-style experiences will be offered below the West grandstand. Vancouver’s youngest fans will be entertained in the Family Zone, located at the North end of the stadium. There will be several entertainment plazas located throughout the stadium, including an area designated to house a mini food truck festival on each match day, offering a selection of eats from local businesses.

The first shipping containers housing the club’s unique flat pack stadium arrived at the Port of Vancouver on February 8th. Work is underway at the future home of Vancouver FC to lay the concrete foundations and site services that will support the prefabricated modular structure.

Commented Dean Shillington, Managing Partner of SixFive Sports & Entertainment, parent company of SixFive Stadium Experience and the Vancouver Football Club, “The modular stadium system dramatically reduces onsite construction time and allows municipalities to create professional and intimate soccer-specific venues for a fraction of the budget typically spent on arenas and concrete stadiums.”

The stadium’s modern and improved modular design is based on the likes of Empire Field, which Vancouverites may remember for its electric atmosphere. SixFive Stadium Experience aims to play its part in improving the soccer infrastructure in Canada by building similar, fan-friendly professional stadiums across the country.

Concluded Shillington, “We hope to create a true, authentic soccer destination for all. This stadium will become the heartbeat of the community for years to come and is a very flexible amenity that can expand as the sport of soccer continues to grow in Canada.”
