Vodafone Idea 5G bolster for India stadia

After the recent launch of its 5G services in Mumbai the leading telecommunications company Vodafone Idea said recently that it has now expanded these services to major cricket stadiums across 11 Cities in India.

‘THE ECONOMIC TIMES’ stated that the cricket fans will be able to experience Vodafone Idea’s 5G in stadiums in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Visakhapatnam.

Mumbai (India)-based Vodafone Idea Limited is an Aditya Birla Group and Vodafone Group partnership. It is India’s leading telecom service provider. The company provides pan India Voice and Data services across 2G, 3G and 4G platforms.

Vodafone Idea sent out a release which read, “The Vi customers with 5G-enabled handsets can experience unlimited Vi 5G at these stadiums by simply switching on 5G usage in their mobile settings.”

‘THE ECONOMIC TIMES’ further stated that the 33,100-capacity Wankhede Stadium (Mumbai), the 35,200-capacity Arun Jaitley Stadium (Delhi), the 32,000-capacity M. Chinnaswamy Stadium (Bengaluru), The 27,500-capacity ACA-VDCA International Cricket Stadium (Vizag), and the 68,000-capacity Eden Gardens (Kolkata) has been listed out.

The other sites include the 50,100-capacity Ekana Cricket Stadium (Lucknow), the 38,200-capacity M. A. Chidambaram Stadium (Chennai), the 38,000-capacity Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium (Chandigarh), the 132,000-capacity Narendra Modi Stadium (Ahmedabad), the 39,000-capacity Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium (Hyderabad), and the 24,000-capacity Sawai Mansingh Stadium (Jaipur).

To ensure high-speed connectivity to the lakhs of spectators flocking the stadiums for live action the network infrastructure has been strengthened, the release stated.

The release concluded, “For a seamless 5G experience in high footfalls venues like the stadiums the Vi has deployed additional 5G network sites and strengthened its network with technologies like the Base Transceiver Station (BTS) and Massive MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output).”
