Wolves Esports Club has teamed up with Chongqing Lvfazhiye Group to build an esports venue in China.

Wolves Esports said funding provided by the group will also be used for the new venue and to upgrade the team’s structure and strengthen its competitive performance and brand development.

With a total investment of $28.4 million, the esports venue is currently under construction in the Bishan district in Chongqing and will cover a floor area of around 10,000 square meters.

The venue, which is particularly eye-catching with its “space battleship” design concept, is expected to open by the end of the year and will accommodate 2,000 spectators.

It will become the first professional elite level esports venue in the southwest region of China.

In addition, the Wolves Esports training base and office space, which has already been commissioned, covers an area of 1,500 square meters and has professional training rooms, live broadcast rooms, review rooms, shadowless photography rooms and team office areas.

More than 80 players and staff from various branches have now settled in.

Wolves Esports is a subsidiary of Fosun Sports and the esports division for English Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers football club.

Wolves has been investing heavily in China through its esports division, having already built the first infrastructure of 1,500 square meters for its staff and players.

The team based in Chongqing has had the offline home venue for its Honor of Kings division since 2023.

The venue has hosted over 130 offline esports events, including the KPL home matches, Challenger Cup and the DOTA National Championship, attracting nearly 200,000 spectators.

Aside from Honor of Kings, Wolves Esports is currently competing across several other game titles, including VALORANT, QQ Speed, Identity V, Naraka: Bladepoint, Call of Duty: Mobile, and FC Online.

In particular, its VALORANT division is defying expectations on the international stage, having reached the top four at the VCT Masters Toronto.

Deng Houjun, President of Fosun Sports Group, said, “We hope to use this financing as a springboard to deepen our ‘esports + city’ integrated industry model, strengthen our professional operations, and expand across the esports value chain.

“While enhancing competitive performance, we will also invest in building a digital content ecosystem and develop a ‘tournament-content-commerce’ trinity model.

“Through diversified commercial models and deep integration with urban industries, Wolves Esports is poised to become a globally influential esports brand and inject fresh momentum into the sustainable development of China’s esports sector.”

Based on its outstanding competitive performance, Wolves Esports has brought a large amount of offline traffic and online attention to Bishan District and Chongqing City.

With the strong support of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee, Municipal Government and Bishan District Party Committee and District Government, the construction of venues and facilities for Wolves Esports has now reached a new level.

Green Development Group Chairman Ai Yuanpeng said: “As a world-leading sports and entertainment industry group, Fosun Sports Group has demonstrated strong development strength in IP brand building and the integration of traditional sports and emerging esports formats.

“In particular, since Wolves Esports settled in Bishan, Chongqing, it has not only performed well in club competitions, but also effectively driven customer consumption through offline events, successfully created a new city cultural business card, and won wide recognition from all walks of life.

“It has played a significant leading and industrial demonstration role in the development of digital economy and the construction of characteristic cultural tourism consumption scenarios in Bishan District.”

Looking to the future, Wolves Esports will continue to expand the team size and upgrade its youth training system.
