Cincinnati plans world class training complex

FC Cincinnati will develop a new team training complex in the City of Milford, Ohio, which will also serve as the club’s base for soccer operations, according to a news release on the club’s official website.

The $30-million project will be the future FCC Academy’s training and performance activities venue, occupying approximately 23.6 acres land area, it said.

The principal designer on the project is the Cincinnati-based MSA Sport while the Cincinnati office of Turner Construction will lead the construction team. The project will be privately financed by FC Cincinnati.

Bill Baker, Principal and Owner of MSA Sport said, “The design of the facility is inspired by the mission and values of FC Cincinnati and reflects a progressive, environmentally sustainable, modern aesthetic reflective of the rise of the sport of soccer in America.”

The facility which is anticipated to be fully-operational by July 2019 will have the FCC first team relocated to the new venue in January 2019, utilizing the temporary facilities until the completion of the complex. The complex is likely to host from six to twenty soccer-related events in one year, which will include first-team scrimmages, FCC Academy games and the local soccer tournaments.

The Major League Soccer (MLS) team will be accommodated in a 30,000 sq. ft. multilevel building next to the fields whereas the FCC Academy teams will have their own 6,000 sq. ft. centre along the practice fields.

The first team building will contain three full-sized soccer fields comprising of two grass turfs and one artificial turf with a special area for goalkeeper training. It will also have staff locker rooms for the team and coaches, athletic training and sports performance rooms, player lounge and dining facility, team meeting rooms, equipment and laundry rooms, reception area, media work space and offices for all the staff.

The Academy building will have locker rooms, athletic training rooms and equipment areas, meeting rooms and coaches area.
