London-headquartered leading architecture and design practice KSS, whose forte is designing major sports venues and training facilities, have just completed the concept design stage for the new Riga FC Football Training Camp in Latvia.

Riga Football Club, commonly referred to as Riga FC, is a Latvian football club, founded in 2014. The club is based at the Skonto Stadium in Riga, Lativia. Since 2016, the club has been playing in the Virslīga.

Latvian Higher League or Virslīga is a professional football league and the top tier of association football in Latvia. Organized by the Latvian Football Federation, the Higher League is contested by 10 clubs.

Riga FC is dominant in the Latvian Higher League, and has been declared champions twice very recently, securing Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Champions League qualification.

The new training center for Riga FC is the crux of a wider multiphased football camp development, which covers a full-size indoor pitch boasting 1,000-seat spectator capacity, a UEFA Category 2 Stadium, hotel and spa.

The site is also a base for community football with significant provision for the strong youth program, with changing suites and dedicated pitches.

The training center proposals include advanced fitness, recovery and rehabilitation facilities for exclusive use of the club’s cream of the crop first-team squad, including external playing pitches, skills areas and dedicated goalkeeper training.

Exulted KSS Director, Andy Simons, “We are delighted to have been given the opportunity to apply our extensive knowledge in this field to a new market and this facility will certainly secure Riga FC as the top club in Latvia and greatly assist the team to progress in the Champions League.”

Andy Simons, Founding Director, KSS, UK, is a Member of Coliseum, Global Sports Venue Alliance.

The project will now be submitted for zoning and planning nod and KSS looks forward to taking it into detailed design and the construction stage.

KSS is an eminent architecture and design practice which excels in major sports venues and training facilities, educational projects and residential developments, and is presently engaged in training facility projects underway for Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Liverpool Football Club.
