The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) (UK) recently announced a new partnership with CGI, one of the largest independent information technology (IT) and business consulting services firms in the world, to be the official digital technology partner of the club.

The ‘Lord’s Cricket Ground’ stated that the agreement marks the beginning of a three-year relationship that will bring the expertise and insight of CGI’s professional IT and business consulting services to MCC, which will greatly enhance the technologies, systems, processes, and data used by the club.

The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) is a cricket club founded in 1787 and based since 1814 at Lord’s Cricket Ground, which it owns, in St John’s Wood, London (UK). The club was formerly the governing body of cricket and still holds considerable global influence.

The Lord’s Cricket Ground, commonly known as Lord’s, is a cricket venue in St John’s Wood, London (UK). Named after its founder, Thomas Lord, it is owned by Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) and is the home of Middlesex County Cricket Club, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), the European Cricket Council (ECC) and, until August 2005, the International Cricket Council (ICC). Lord’s is widely referred to as the ‘Home of Cricket’ and is home to the world’s oldest sporting museum.

The ‘Lord’s Cricket Ground’ further stated that this important partnership will help MCC drive innovation and bring technological advancement in key areas, including member and visitor interaction, operational delivery excellence and commercial services.

CGI’s broad IT capabilities and experience will help the club to explore and implement a wide range of technologies and systems across all aspects of its operations that will allow the club, and Lord’s as a venue, to be a leading example of technology adoption, not only for cricket but across all sports and stadia.

Guy Lavender, Chief Executive and Secretary, MCC, exulted, “I am delighted about the partnership with CGI. They have an excellent reputation for delivering groundbreaking innovation to their clients and they have great people with a broad range of IT and technological skills that MCC can access to drive critical projects over the next three years.”

Neil Sadler, Senior Vice-President and Business Unit Leader for Financial Services and Greater London, put in, “We are looking forward to working as a trusted partner to MCC and bringing our extensive experience and proven innovation to work together to help them achieve their exciting long-term vision and digital aspirations. We are also looking at opportunities where we can partner on future CSR activities alongside MCC’s community team and the MCC Foundation – both of whom run excellent projects that we are keen to get involved in through our consultants based across the UK.”
