Axel Eichholtz, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ZECH Sports (construction company in Düsseldorf, Germany), will retire on September 30th, 2022 after 41 years in service.

‘ZECH Hochbau AG’ stated that Dr.-Ing. Christopher Kämereit, who has been molding himself up to fill up the spot of Axel Eichholtz since June 2021, will succeed him. Ronald Tscherning and Christian Weber will become Managing Directors of the Stadion Dresden project company.

ZECH Sports GmbH is a subsidiary of ZECH Hochbau AG and is one of the best-known and most successful construction companies in the sports facility and event industry in Germany. The company boasts building more than 20 sports and event facilities worldwide – the 15,210-capacity Jahnstadion Regensburg in Regensburg, Germany or the 34,000-capacity Mewa Arena in Mainz, Germany, to name a few.

The ZECH Sports team consists of experts who enjoy wealth of experience in the planning, construction and operation of sports and event facilities based in Düsseldorf. Sports and events is the company’s raison d’ etre and hence the slogan ‘Building for Emotions’.

Apart from construction of sports facilities, the operation of a stadium is another area of activity for ZECH Sports. The Stadion Dresden Projektgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG (subsidiary of ZECH Sports) has been operating the Rudolf Harbig Stadium in Dresden in a very efficient manner since its completion in 2009.

The 32,066-capacity Rudolf Harbig Stadium is a football stadium in Dresden, Saxony, Germany. It is named after the German athlete Rudolf Harbig, and is the current home of the German association football club Dynamo Dresden.

‘ZECH Hochbau AG’ further stated that Dr.-Ing. Christopher Kämereit has a doctorate in engineering and has been with ZECH Sports since 2011. In order to carry forward Axel Eichholtz’s successful work in the long term, he became an authorized officer on June 1st, 2021. On October 1st, 2022, he will finally assume the position of spokesman for the management board and will manage ZECH Sports alongside Peter Zamoryn (since 2013 Commercial Director) and Kay-Uwe Panzer (since 2021 Technical Director).

Exulted Kämereit, “I am pleased to be able to participate and design future construction projects in the sports and event sector in an even more responsible position. For me, looking into a soldout stadium is both fascinating and motivating. It is exactly this spirit that I want to bring to our projects.”

The Stadion Dresden Projektgesellschaft, the subsidiary of ZECH Sports and operator of the Rudolf Harbig Stadium in Dresden, also welcomed two new Managing Directors into its camp – Ronald Tscherning and Christian Weber.

Ronald Tscherning has been employed at Stadion Dresden Projektgesellschaft for 12 years and previously held the position of Commercial Stadium Manager. Christian Weber has been with ZECH Sports since 2014 and is in the role of Senior Project Manager.

Axel Eichholtz stated that he saw great potential in the future management – “ZECH Sports is an intrinsic part of my life which I have built up over the last 22 years as Technical Director. I couldn’t put this company in better hands than Dr.-Ing. Christopher Kämereit and I’m pleased that we were able to arrange an internal successor so early on. ZECH Sports is excellently positioned for the future.”
