RCD Mallorca stadium rebrands Image: Consell de Mallorca

The Council of Mallorca and the LaLiga team RCD Mallorca recently presented the advertising sponsorship agreement created in recent months and approved by the Executive Board, which will take place during the 2022-2023 sports seasons. The RCD Mallorca home ground new name is now Estadi Mallorca Son Moix going by the name of the Mallorca islands and is also a kind of publicity blitzkrieg of the island.

‘Consell de Mallorca’ stated that the above is a presentation that the club has taken advantage of to publicize the new name of the first class sports facilities. The Estadi Mallorca Son Moix will now bear the name of the island in Spain, emphasizing the promotion of the same name of the club in the sports circuits.

The Real Club Deportivo Mallorca, S.A.D., commonly known as Real Mallorca or just Mallorca is a Spanish professional football club based in Palma on the island of Majorca in the Balearic Islands.

The 23,142-capacity Estadi Mallorca Son Moix is a football stadium located in Palma de Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain, and serves as the home ground of RCD Mallorca. It is the largest stadium in the Balearic Islands and the 26th largest in Spain.

Mallorca, or Majorca, is the largest island in the Balearic Islands, which are part of Spain and located in the Mediterranean.

The President of the Council of Mallorca, Catalina Cladera, the head honcho of Business of Real Mallorca, Alfonso Díaz, the Executive Councilor of Transition, Tourism and Sports, Andreu Serra, the Insular Director of Sports, Marga Portells, the club’s technical team, as well as the players, were present at the presser where the above deal was inked and the new name of the stadium was made official.

‘Consell de Mallorca’ further stated that Cladera highlighted few clauses of the agreement, such as inculcating sporting and social values, or promoting the island, and observed that “sport is an extraordinary tool for social cohesion and personal development across all ages.”

Díaz explained few clauses of the agreement and stated that the new name of the stadium is Estadi Mallorca-Son Moix. The new name of the stadium maintains the original toponym.

A financial aid of €1,815,000 will be given to the club by the Council of Mallorca and the club will have to justify the fiscal aid provided by ensuring advertising returns. Parallel to this sponsorship contract, 11 other elite Mallorcan clubs from different sports disciplines are already in an arrangement with the Council for the hiring of advertising space in their sports venues.

The practice of sport in Mallorca is a first-order element within the priorities of the Council of Mallorca. The Department of Transition, Tourism and Sports works to promote sports. Likewise, the Council has an ambitious plan for the renovation and construction of new sports infrastructure in all the municipalities of Mallorca.
