AS Roma appoints Lina Souloukou as new CEO Image: AS Roma

The Serie A club A.S. Roma (Italy) announced that Lina Souloukou has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and General Manager of the club.

‘AS Roma’ quoted Dan and Ryan Friedkin, owners of A.S. Roma, as stating, “Lina is an experienced, respected and trusted leader in both football and business and we are delighted to welcome her into the AS Roma family. We will work closely with her to continue building the club to the highest level, deserving of both the ‘Giallorossi’ fans and the City.”

A.S. Roma or Roma is a professional football club based in Rome, Italy. Founded by a merger in 1927, Roma has participated in the top tier of Italian football – Serie A – for all of its existence, except for the 1951-1952 seasons.

The Stadio Olimpico is the largest sports facility in Rome, Italy, seating over 70,000 spectators. It is located within the Foro Italico sports complex, North of the City. The structure is owned by the Italian National Olympic Committee and it is used primarily for association football. It serves as the home stadium of A.S. Roma.

‘AS Roma’ stated that after studying law specializing in Sports Law, she began her career in football where she has been working for over 15 years.

In 2018, she was appointed the head honcho of the Greek professional football club Olympiacos F.C. (Greece), a role she held until June 2022.

Said Souloukou, “I would like to express my gratitude to the Friedkin family for giving me this opportunity: I have had the chance to appreciate and understand the spirit and ambition that inspire the ownership and I am honored to have the possibility of sharing in the challenges that await A.S. Roma. I’m excited to join this historical club and I’m looking forward to making available to the club, its managers and all the employees, the experience I have gained in the international football world.”

In 2019, she was appointed as a member of the European Club Association (ECA’s) (a body representing the interests of professional association football clubs in the Union of European Football Associations [UEFA]) Executive Board, a position that she still holds today.
