Reports recently suggesting the Big Ten Football Championship Game could be bound for Las Vegas (US) are wide of the mark, according to the Conference.

‘IndyStar’ stated that location of the title game, which has only ever been staged in Indianapolis and will remain at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana (US) through at least 2024, is an ongoing process for the league office.

The Big Ten Football Championship Game is a college football game held by the Big Ten Conference each year to determine the Conference’s season champion. The game, held after the regular season has been completed, matches the division champions from the Conference’s West and East divisions.

The Big Ten Conference is the oldest Division I collegiate athletic Conference in the United States. Founded as the Intercollegiate Conference of Faculty Representatives in 1896, it predates the founding of its regulating organization, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). It is based in the Chicago area in Rosemont, Illinois (US).

Indiana (US)-based the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is a nonprofit organization that regulates student-athletics among about 1,100 schools in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. It also organizes the athletic programs of colleges and helps over 500,000 college student-athletes who compete annually in college sports.

The 70,000-capacity Lucas Oil Stadium is a multipurpose stadium in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana, United States. It replaced the now demolished 56,127-capacity RCA Dome as the home field of the National Football League’s (NFL’s) Indianapolis Colts and opened on August 16th, 2008.

‘IndyStar’ further stated that bids from a variety of possible hosts have been and will continue to be considered, and the league’s Westward expansion across the past two Summers could eventually lend a West Coast location some appeal. But for the moment, the Game has not been scheduled past next season, and hosts for future iterations of the Big Ten’s showpiece football game have yet to be determined.

The Big Ten Championship Game has been held at the Lucas Oil Stadium since its inception in 2011.
