Construction progressing at Nou Mestalla

Construction of Valencia CF’s future Nou Mestalla stadium has entered a new phase with construction of the 38-meter-high structural elements that will also form the main columns of the venue.

Valencia CF said that the first structural pillars have arrived at the Nou Mestalla site. They will support the large roof of the future Valencia stadium and will also serve as its main columns.

These 38-meter-high, 30-ton pieces are transported in special convoys—heavy-duty trucks that take between two and four days to complete the journey to Valencia from the Horta Coslada plant in Arteixo (Galicia).

There, more than 900 km from the Nou Mestalla, the leading company in design, manufacturing, engineering, and assembly is producing, under the guidance of FCC Construcción, the main elements that make up this new phase of construction.

Valencia CF said this will allow for even more visible progress in the coming weeks.

Valencia CF, or simply Valencia, is a Spanish professional football club based in Valencia, Spain, which currently plays in LaLiga, the top tier of the Spanish football league system. Valencia was founded in 1919 and has played its home games at the 49,430-seater Mestalla Stadium since its opening in 1923.

Valencia CF’s new home will be the Nou Mestalla, a stadium currently under construction and expected to open in 2027. The new stadium will have a capacity of over 70,000 seats, a retractable roof and advanced technological features.

Construction on the project was halted for years due to financial reasons but resumed in January 2025 with an estimated completion date of summer 2027.

When finished, the stadium will have the capacity to accommodate 70,044 supporters, it will feature advanced technology and will be high on the sustainability quotient.

Valencia CF further stated that during November the steel anchor plates for the pillars began arriving at the Nou Mestalla stadium.

These plates, weighing up to 7 tons and measuring approximately 2 meters in length, serve as the base for anchoring each of the pillars that will support the 4,800-ton roof.

Installation began the same day they arrived, starting with the north side of the stadium.

Construction work is now progressing with the arrival of the first pillars. A steady stream of key components and elements for the installation and lifting of the 50 S355 steel pillars is expected soon.

These will be followed by the stair towers and the structural ring that will form the Nou Mestalla’s large roof.

The future Valencia stadium will become, from its inauguration in 2027, a benchmark for sport, leisure and entertainment not only for Valencia CF and its fans, but also for the city of Valencia, developing significant activity with a segmented offer for all audiences during the 365 days of the year.
