The Government of Argentina has approved the return of football fans into stadiums in the country for the first time in over a year.

The ‘PM News’ stated that the Health Minister, Carla Vizzotti, and the Sports Minister, Matias Lammen, told about the above decision in a joint statement issued on August 24th.

By the end of September, spectators should be allowed into the stadia for other football matches in the South American country.

The ‘PM News’ quoted Vizzotti as stating, “The crowd will be set at 30 percent capacity when Argentina meet Bolivia for a World Cup qualifier at the 70,074-capacity El Monumental in Buenos Aires on September 9th.”

Stated Lammen, “It will be a test run not only for football, but also for other major events.”

Only fans who have already been vaccinated against COVID-19 or who have a negative PCR test will be allowed to enter the venues.

In addition, distancing regulations call for three seats to remain between each occupied seat and one free row between each occupied row of seats.

Fans will have to remain seated throughout the entire match.

Argentina has been pummeled by COVID-19 pandemic, recording over 110,000 deaths and over 5 million cases.

It is the second worst-hit after Brazil in Latin America. Brazil till date has over 20 million COVID-19 cases and the death figures stand at 575,000.
