SC Freiburg move to new stadium delayed again Image: SC Freiburg

The Bundesliga club SC Freiburg moving to its new home has been hanging fire for quite a while.

The ‘Sueddeutsche Zeitung’ stated that the ‘Breisgau Brazilians’ were hoping to start their Bundesliga 2021-2022 seasons from the new arena, but the same will not materialize. The top-flight cannot play in their new home at least until mid-October.

The 2021-2022 Bundesliga will be the 59th season of the Bundesliga, Germany’s premier football competition. It will begin on August 13th, 2021 and will conclude on May 14th, 2022. The fixtures were announced on June 25th, 2021.

The SC-Stadion is an under-construction football stadium in Freiburg, Germany. It will primarily serve as the new home ground of SC Freiburg, replacing the club’s former home, the Schwarzwald-Stadion. It is located in a part of the City called Brühl, near the airport.

SC Freiburg is a German football club based in the City of Freiburg im Breisgau, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It plays in the Bundesliga, having been promoted as champions from the 2. Bundesliga in 2016.

Schwarzwald-Stadion is a football stadium in Freiburg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is currently the home of Bundesliga team SC Freiburg. The stadium holds 24,000 spectators and was built in 1953.

The ‘Sueddeutsche Zeitung’ cited the residents of Breisgau as stating that power issues coupled with data technology was the reason behind the yawning delay in the delivery of the new stadium.

SC Freiburg will play their first home game of the 2021-2022 Bundesliga seasons on August 21st against their peer team Borussia Dortmund in the Schwarzwald-Stadion. The games against 1. FC Köln (September 11th) and FC Augsburg (September 26th) will also take place in the old stadium.

SC Freiburg hopes to play their game against RB Leipzig in their new home in October this year. Meanwhile, it is fingers crossed for the top-notch club.
