Stadium re-branding in Madrid Image: Real Madrid

The LaLiga team Real Madrid CF are undergoing a number of changes at the top level this year and their home arena – the Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid, Spain – comes within the purview of these changes.

‘Football ESPANA’ stated that the ‘Los Blancos’ have given their home venue a new name this year – Bernabéu Stadium – although it is not a major departure in terms of the nomenclature that is commonly used as it is.

The Real Madrid CF is a Spanish professional association football club based in Madrid, Spain. The club competes in the LaLiga, the top tier of Spanish football.

The Bernabéu Stadium is a retractable roof football stadium in Madrid, Spain. With a seating capacity of 83,186 following its extensive renovation completed in late 2024 the stadium has the second-largest seating capacity for a football stadium in Spain. It serves as the residence of the Real Madrid CF.

‘Football ESPANA’ further stated that the Real Madrid CF President Florentino Pérez is keen to shake up the ownership model of the club and is due to unveil proposed changes to the member-owned system very soon. This follows right on the heels of the stadium renovations being completed last year and the Real Madrid hoping to build an underground car park linked to their stadium as well as refurbishing the Metro Station connected to the stadium. The underground car park construction has so far been halted following a legal challenge thrown by the local residents.

Unveiling ‘Bernabeu’

The top-flight has made a change to the name of their stadium official. The facility underwent a 360 degree transfiguration last year and this year a change in name – from Estadio de Santiago Bernabeu’ to be known simply as Bernabeu’.

The Bernabeu’ renovations come with a food market, new bars and hospitality spaces. They open up new revenue streams for the club and the soundproofing of the stadium will be completed by 2026 which will allow it to host concerts. A festive theme park will be set up this Christmas to attract families and their children.
