The team involved in the venue project of the Serie A team AC Milan in San Donato Milanese (commune in Italy) have fire in their bellies.

‘MILAN REPORTS’ stated that the main players in the venue project are Tim Romani (Project Manager for AC Milan and Founder and Former Head of the management consulting firm CAA ICON), Stephanie Bax (In-Charge of the CAA ICON team) and MANICA, the architecture firm that will design the new facility.

The AC Milan or simply Milan is a professional football club based in Milan, Italy. Founded in 1899, the club competes in Serie A, the top tier of Italian football and has spent its entire history there with the exception of the 1980-1981 and 1982-1983 seasons.

The Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, commonly known as San Siro, is a football stadium in the San Siro district of Milan, Italy, which is the home of AC Milan and Inter Milan. It has a seating capacity of 80,018, making it one of the largest stadiums in Europe and the largest in Italy.

Denver (US)-based CAA ICON is a division of the leading entertainment and sports agency Creative Artists Agency (CAA). CAA ICON is the world’s-leading Owners’ Representative and strategic management consulting firm for public and private sports and entertainment facility owners/operators, professional franchises and leagues. With more than 50 sports, entertainment and public assembly projects and over 1,000 consulting engagements, the CAA ICON has managed the development of many of the most successful venues around the world spanning 11 professional sports leagues totaling nearly $20 billion. CAA ICON offers world-class service in the areas of project management, strategic advisory, feasibility and planning, and beyond.

Kansas City (US)-based MANICA Architecture provides its clients with the unique combination of large-scale project experience and the personality and creativity of a boutique international design studio. Unlike many large architectural firms that specialize in projects of similar scale, MANICA is dedicated to ensuring that all of its clients are given the personal attention and unparalleled expertise they deserve.

In June this year, the Serie A club AC Milan officially kicked off the process for building a standalone home venue of their own in the San Francesco area of San Donato in Milan, Italy. Earlier, the club had set its sights on the La Maura area in Milan, Italy, to build their home arena.

The top-flight teams – AC Milan and Inter Milan new venue dreams (‘The Cathedral’) will just remain a dream as an injunction against demolishing the San Siro is set to come into effect. The injunction will come into effect in 2025 on the 70th anniversary of the construction of the stadium’s second tier. A new measure has already been initiated to protect a part of the venue’s structure.

‘The Cathedral’ was being planned as a celebration of the artistic and cultural heritage of Milan (Italy). Its design was inspired by two of the most famous buildings in the City – the Duomo di Milano and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele – and would have resulted in a unique stadium that would have stood out from any other sporting arena in the world and would have served as the home venue of Italy’s top-rung clubs Inter-Milan.

‘MILAN REPORTS’ quoted Tim Romani as stating, “I have been chasing the dream of a new stadium for the AC Milan for six years. CAA ICON and MANICA will help us create a world-class facility bringing to fruition the dreams of AC Milan and RedBird Capital.”

New York (US)-based the RedBird Capital Partners is a private investment firm focused on building high-growth companies with flexible, long-term capital in partnership with its Entrepreneur and Family Office Network. Founded by former Goldman Sachs (investment banking company) Partner Gerry Cardinale, RedBird today manages over $8.6 billion of capital principally across its Sports, TMT, Financial Services, and Consumer Industry verticals.

Stated Stephanie Bax, “The most successful facilities are those that seamlessly integrate into the community. We can’t wait to bring the vision of A.C. Milan to life with the help of MANICA.”

The design studio MANICA sent out a statement which read, “We are proud to have been chosen to design the new stadium. We will work by the sweat of our brows to ensure that the new venue of AC Milan measures up to the huge expectations of the top-flight, the City and the club’s fans all over the globe.”
