Full Sail University in Winter Garden, Florida recently revealed details of its new state-of-the-art Esports arena, being billed as “The Fortress”, designed as a home to the varsity’s Esports team Armada.

This will be the largest Esports arena till now on a university campus in the United States with an area of the facilities to be over 11,200sqft., according to Full Sail’s official website.

“The Fortress” will be fully equipped with latest technology to host collegiate and professional gaming tournaments and live Esports streaming events. It will also be used to explore activities like drone programming, drone racing and several other options. The facility can hold 1 vs 1 games, as well as 100 Esports athletes playing simultaneously. It will be able to hold around 500 spectators to cheer for games live onsite and still remain flexible for other uses.

A dedicated practice space will be available for Armada to be housed on the 210 acre campus which will be equipped with latest in gaming technology. The student Esports athletes will have the opportunity to train for upcoming tournaments for both on-campus and on the road events allowing them to participate across the country and internationally.

The Full Sail University has a direct capital investment of $6 million in The Fortress in supporting spaces and efforts as well as other indirect initiatives and investments.

“We are excited about these additions to our campus as we continue to strive to make Full Sail the premier destination for students who want to pursue careers in entertainment and media, and specifically, gaming and the various aspects of the live event industry,” said Ken Goldstone, COO, Full Sail University.

The design phase for the facility began in early 2017 with construction beginning in June 2018, and is scheduled to be completed in 2019.
