Kansas City Current picks Levy for F&B Image: Kansas City Current

The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) team Kansas City Current (US) recently announced its partnership with the hospitality company Levy to craft a one-of-a-kind food and beverage experience for the first stadium purpose-built for a women’s professional soccer team, opening in 2024. Levy will work with Current to showcase local vendors in its downtown stadium.

The KC Current stadium will be located along the Berkley Riverfront Park in downtown Kansas City, US. The first stadium built for women in the world will break ground soon for an anticipated soft opening in late 2023.

‘Kansas City Current’ stated that the Current and Levy are committed to bringing local restaurants and culinary talent that reflect the rich culture of downtown Kansas City. Levy is known for creating the food and beverage experience at many of the country’s iconic and cutting-edge sports and entertainment venues, including the 20,738-capacity Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas, the 19,000-capacity Barclays Center in New York City, New York, the 20,000-capacity Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, the 20,371-capacity Lower.com Field in Columbus, Ohio, the 71,000-capacity Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, the 20,000-capacity T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada, the 26,000-capacity TQL Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio, the 23,500-capacity United Center in Chicago, Illinois, and the home of the 2022 NWSL Championship – the 20,000-capacity Audi Field in Washington, D.C.

The Kansas City Current is an American professional women’s soccer team based in Kansas City, Kansas, US. It began play as an expansion team in the National Women’s Soccer League in 2021.

The 18,467-capacity Children’s Mercy Park is a soccer-specific stadium in Kansas City, Kansas, United States, and is the home of Kansas City Current. The stadium is located near Kansas Speedway, on the far West side of Wyandotte County, Kansas.

The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) is a professional women’s soccer league at the top of the United States league system. It is owned by the teams and, until 2020, was under a management contract with the United States Soccer Federation.

Levy is a restaurant and hospitality company based in Chicago, US, specializing in providing food and beverage to major entertainment and sports venues. Founded in 1978, with a single family-run delicatessen in Water Tower Place, since 2006, it has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of Britain’s Compass Group.

‘Kansas City Current’ further stated that fans can also expect a flexible and unique experience that features many ways to access food and beverage based on their own preferences, including mobile ordering and self-service, among other tech-driven hospitality initiatives. More information about the food and beverage experience will be shared over the coming months.

Exulted Allison Howard, President, KC Current, “We are thrilled to work in conjunction with Levy to create a truly bespoke food and beverage experience for Kansas City Current fans. It was essential for us to find a partner who excels at innovation while staying genuine to our Kansas City roots. Levy has a strong track record of success working with groundbreaking technology to build an experience worthy of our cutting-edge stadium.”

Added Andy Lansing, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Levy, “From the moment we heard the idea for a world-class purpose-built stadium for women’s soccer, we wanted to be involved. We couldn’t be more excited to partner with an incredible organization in the Kansas City Current to create an experience that is authentic to the Kansas City community and Current fans, and that we hope will inspire many more in the future.”

The soccer-specific stadium at the Berkley Riverfront Park will be the first stadium purpose-built for an NWSL team, seating 11,500 and opening for the 2024 season. Fans can sign up to place a 2024 season ticket deposit by visiting www.KCCurrentStadium.com. As part of a 50-year lease agreement with Port KC (local Government office in Kansas City, Missouri), the stadium will be built on a 7.08-acre site on the East end of the Park in Kansas City, Missouri.
