The multiuse sports and entertainment stadium in the Docklands area of Melbourne in Australia – Marvel Stadium – is initiating a bold overhaul of its food and beverage offering and with this fan experience jumps another notch. The stadium has taken up the overhaul job in tandem with catering partner Delaware North to give fans access to a new restaurant, Lee Ho Fook, as well as new retail offerings including Crafter Glow, Gami Chicken, and plant-based burger offering, Dirty Beets, which hails from the UK, confirmed as new dining options.

Delaware North is a global food service and hospitality company headquartered in Buffalo, New York.

A statement released by Marvel Stadium states that this hospitality overhaul delivers “never-before-seen access to world-class culinary options in the context of a multipurpose stadium”. Marvel Stadium Chief Executive Michael Green informed that through the latest culinary offerings, the stadium wants to give a more enthralling experience to supporters on match days and culinary options for the Docklands.

Green further notes, “We’ve made significant additions to the stadium in the last 12 months, including the sensory room, the Marvel height chart and the Spider-Man climbing wall – the revitalization of the stadium’s dining experience is our latest initiative and we’re really proud of it.”

The stadium has also confirmed that there is a price freeze on traditional stadium food options, with pies, chips, hot dogs, coffee, water, kids’ combos and more all carrying the same price from 2019, which means that the arena has not increased the prices of any of these items in the last four years.

Green added “We’ll always offer the tried and true game day experience of sitting in your seat with a trusty pie and the kids’ combo, and the price freeze on fan favorites highlights our commitment to this, but now we’re expanding the stadium’s food options to cater to a broader section of the market.”

Marvel Stadium wants to bring a sea change in the game day experience for fans – the venue’s enhanced dining options will extend beyond match days, with eatery Lee Ho Fook open to the public for lunch on Thursdays and Fridays as well as during events for fans and Medallion Club members.

The Medallion Club is the best way to experience a day or night at the football. It gives you access to the best seats and best dining for every Australian Football League (AFL) match at Marvel Stadium.

Epicurean delight

Gami, a Korean chicken and beer favorite that has been tickling Melbournians’ tongues since it was introduced in 2006, will provide a trademark twist to classic chicken and chips with its mouth-watering fried chicken pieces, flavorsome grilled options and traditional Korean dishes.

Bolstered by the endless rise of plant-based diets, UK-based eatery Dirty Beets will be making the trip from Wembley Arena in UK to Marvel Stadium, with the strictly vegetarian menu catering to carnivores and vegans equally with tempting plant-based burgers.

The young crowd will relish The Sweeter Life – a lolly shop boasting colorful roof-high plastic tubes loaded with sweet treats, self-serve slushie machines and various ice cream flavors which will leave them spoilt for choice.

To keep the spirits high, a new craft beer bar, Crafter Glow on Level 1, Four Pines bar on Level 3 and a deluxe, tailor-made burger bar, Prime Burger, will also set up shop, taking the total number of new food and beverage outlets to 13.

Marvel Stadium’s new dining options will further give a shot in the arm to its reputation as a local attraction, part of its modification from sporting venue into a bona fide must-see spot for tourists.

Green enthused, “Lee Ho Fook is going to be a great addition to the Docklands, since it will be open on Thursday and Friday, allowing punters to get a look at the stadium on a non-event day, which is an experience in itself. The stadium has become an all-round entertainment experience now – there’s so much for families to do before and after the games, and the new dining options will be part of that.”

The suite of new offerings is currently under construction and will be open to the general public in time for Round 1 of AFL – all set to start from March 19 this year.

At a glance

Elbow room

If the entire idea of carrying food and drinks back to their seats with kids in attendance does not exactly appeal to the fans, the solution lies in Elbow Room.

Elbow Room will be a family-friendly activity-packed retreat, located at 4 sites on level 3, adjacent to the food and beverage (F&B) kiosks. The family can sit together at a table and at the same time follow the match. It provides everything to the family to start the game on the right foot. Kids can enjoy to the hilt in the playground which is equipped with a sand pit, giant Jenga sets, and blackboards where they can stretch their imaginations.

Parents can let their hair down with food and drinks at a colourful ‘picnic bench’ while the little ones are immersed in their own world. The ambience is so colourful that it will make one forget the severest of Melbourne winter.

Lee Ho Fook

As one of Melbourne’s few Good Food Guide ‘hatted’ Asian restaurants, Lee Ho Fook has become the definition of nouvelle vague Chinese cuisine at its much-loved Duckboard Place restaurant. The dining king Lee Ho Fook restaurant is also being introduced at Marvel Stadium. There is already one outlet at the iconic Flinders Lane dining precinct.

Lee Ho Fook’s cuisine takes a page out of the cookbook of Chinese Australians – the legacy of deliciousness with a highly personal and creative touch lent to it. It’s a new style of Chinese cuisine from the mind of Executive Chef Victor Liong.

Gami Chicken

Australia’s original Korean fried chicken joint in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth comes to Marvel Stadium. It will take to a higher level Melbournians’ love of Korean fried chicken. The pick of fusion menu includes boneless chicken pieces, kimchi fries and beef bulgogi bowls.

The Sweeter Life

Sweeter Life will be the place the kids would want to hit in Marvel stadium … and it is not just about sugar! Kids and adults alike will be able to fill their Sweeter Life slushie or lolly cups to the brim from the self-serve dispensary and will also be full to the brim with excitement. The self-serve dispensary will allow anyone to create their own original new taste sensation.

As with every afternoon crowd at 7-Elevens (the go-to place for all your convenience store needs) across Australia, kids want to be able to make their own flavor sensation which would best tickle their taste buds. Sweeter Life will provide an innovative, fast-service sugar fix in Marvel Stadium with a variety of pre-paid size options available for both slushies and lolly mixes. Gourmands will just have to pay for in advance for their cup, fill it with their choice of flavors, and head back to their seats to watch the rest of the game in total delight.

Dirty Beets

Dirty Beets is saving the world, one ‘deliciously different’ burger at a time. Embracing a philosophy of ‘love and let live,’ their luscious veggie burgers can any day give stiff competition to meat-based preparations. It boasts plant-based menu in its entirety comprising burgers, sweet potato fries and buns baked with a trademark hint of beetroot and is a hit among the crowd.

Crafter Glow

The best of Victoria’s craft beer is available right here in Marvel Stadium. To keep fans’ spirits soaring, all focus is on the ‘independent’ craft beer range offered within the CUB portfolio, teaming up with other local wine, spirit, and produce companies.

Crafter Glow will be able to best showcase the ever-changing craft food and beverage trends of Melbourne and Victoria by evolving its menu, suppliers and venue partners to match.

Prime Burger

Prime burger is raising the bar for a quality, delicious, customized burger. Prime Burger’s beef patties are made from prime cuts of forequarter and rib of beef seasoned with an iota of cracked black pepper and salt.
